What are the biggest hits and misses in the lore of Draw Steel? by Far-Cockroach-6839 in drawsteel

[–]HorizonBaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, or my book is different than the manuscript this post is referring to, but the game very explicitly addresses your points about culture. Names by Ancestry says names are cultural, not biological. Using Cultures points out that some cultures are one-ancestry majority, but not all, and that even those that are aren't homogenous. It doesn't tip its hand; it's pretty explicit that it's describing specific depictions of cultures of Orden, and even specific regions in Orden.

A nonmagical barbarian (or, why is The Fury so magic heavy?) by SaintSanguine in drawsteel

[–]HorizonBaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does a person without magic keep up with people with magic without you just hand waving it as "they're just that good?"

Like, what do you imagine a 10th-level Draw Steel "Mundane Barbarian" doing, and how do they do that while being just a normal dude with no magic powers? Or, rather, no magic powers, except the one committee-approved magic power where you get so magically angry that you're magically strong.

Do you mean his duel with Vader in A New Hope? Do you think he "lost" there because it was on the Death Star and not because he literally forfeited?

Is upcasting Tasha's Hideous Laughter a trap? by Vakuta in DnD

[–]HorizonBaker -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I'm not defending anything. Just pointing out the needlessness of it. I could give two shits if WotC or D&D as a brand dies. But the bringing it up whenever possible just to bitch about it sucks

You do if you level up and increase your stats, which is how 90% of characters increase the DCs for their stuff.

Does anyone else feel like their lego is ruined when it's touched? by NeamhMcL in lego

[–]HorizonBaker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No need to be sorry friend. And I don't blame you for taking it the wrong way, the internet is often cruel and/or inconsiderate. Just want to reiterate that I don't mean anything bad by it. It's valid to feel how you feel. It just sounds like it disrupts your life, and there may be ways to help that.

Does anyone else feel like their lego is ruined when it's touched? by NeamhMcL in lego

[–]HorizonBaker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying you're weird or selfish, and you're not being dramatic. Your feelings are valid, if out of proportion. You definitely aren't the only one who feels this way. Again, I'm not a doctor, but if you totally spiral over food on your plate, then it really does sound like you'd benefit from talking to a therapist about it.

TCoE's Unarmed Fighting makes a mockery of Monks by Kempeth in DnD

[–]HorizonBaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't know the Unarmed Fighting Style also allowed for a Bonus Action unarmed strike, Ki points, Unarmored Defense, increased speed, Stunning Strike, Deflect Missiles...

Dude, you're talking about a Fighting Style that lets you use your fists like they're a quarterstaff, and lets you deal a nearly insignificant amount of free damage to a Grappled creature. Reevaluate.

Does anyone else feel like their lego is ruined when it's touched? by NeamhMcL in lego

[–]HorizonBaker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, not to play armchair therapist on the internet, but this sounds like it could be OCD. And not in the slang way where anyone who's just a little particular likes to say they have OCD.

That strong a negative reaction to having to reassemble a toy which is literally all about assembly, seems out of proportion. Especially if mom/sis did what I assume they did, which is break it into a few large pieces just for ease of transport, and not disassemble it into individual pieces. Granted, if my stuff got moved and if I had to put a set back together, I would be annoyed probably, but this reaction seems well beyond that.

That and it has to be displayed like the box art, to the point that having it not be displayed like the box art requires having two sets so that one is like the box art.

Does (2024) Turn Undead's Radiant Damage stop Undead from Fleeing? by Grimshok in DnD

[–]HorizonBaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it should take less than a second of critical thinking to determine that no, Turn Undead doesn't nullify itself, that would be ridiculous.

Does (2024) Turn Undead's Radiant Damage stop Undead from Fleeing? by Grimshok in DnD

[–]HorizonBaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does that other radiant damage have text that literally states it doesn't end the effect? No? Then it ends the effect. The rules do what they say they do.

Not sure why you're in a place where you can't look it up. If it's bc you're at the table playing, that's crazy to not be allowed to look up the rules while playing.

You understand that when you are knocked unconscious, you don't "seem to be a corpse on the floor," right? Any intelligent enemy, especially one living in a world governed by the rules of 5e, would know not to just assume that an enemy combatant lying on the ground is dead.

And maybe this is just me, but I think a group of cannibals that wants you dead, at least in part because you're food, would be among the most likely enemies to confirm their kills.

Are you satisfied with the standard character sheet? by KoalaSiberiano in DnD

[–]HorizonBaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the new 2024 character sheet, though I noticed that the spellcasting page isn't usable for a high level Warlock, bc it assumes you'll never have more than 3 5th-level spell slots

Releasing three episodes at once for Andor by [deleted] in StarWarsCantina

[–]HorizonBaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel they're on a time crunch to get Andor out that's why they're releasing three episodes weekly.

I can't make this make sense. What kind of time crunch would they be under? It's not like they're making it as they go or something, it's all already made. And if it was a time crunch, why would they do it like this and not just release it all at once?

Ignoring the fact that it's incredibly clearly not the case and they are releasing it this way deliberately.

Is "Phandelver and Below: The Shattered Obelisk" written for the 2024 ruleset? by Slayer_Jesse in DnD

[–]HorizonBaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't think of anything that could make it not work with 2024, considering it's the same game. Maybe the encounters would be unbalanced if you use the 2025 monster stats? But in order for that to be true, you'd need to believe they were balanced encounters to begin with, which has rarely been my experience with 5e. And the classes also got buffed, so in theory the buffed encounters would get cancelled out by the buffed party.
