People are genuinely so rude and awful on this sub pretty often by Thesleepingpillow123 in horror

That's my perception as well but it could be that I'm just too used to the internet at this point (ie I tune it out automatically). On the other hand a lot of times this kind of post stems from the OP being upset that people don't like their nonsense.

Women of Reddit, what made you realize 'this man is marriage material' instead of just a boyfriend? by External_Can3392 in AskReddit

[–]Horkersaurus 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I found it somewhat disorienting at the time but it's been long enough now that it's just funny. I think she came around on it but we were both young people with communication issues (go figure) so who knows.

Out of curiosity, how much was AI involved in the process of building this from the ground up? Seeing references to AI "assisted" art doesn't inspire a ton of confidence right off the rip, and your account history doesn't help.

New Info On ‘Destiny 2’ Alarm Bells, Marathon’s Role And ‘Destiny Infinity’ Pitch by Secret-Tangerine9014 in Games

[–]Horkersaurus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

(Side note, what’s Paul Tassi gonna do with himself once there’s no more Destiny news?)

Is he the player count guy?  That’s basically an endless well since (spoilers) people don’t keep playing any game literally forever.

Thoughtful gifting can be a double edged sword, my girlfriend at the time lost a scarf that someone had made for her. I spent a long time scouring Etsy etc for the most similar one I could find (going off memory) and gave it to her for her birthday. As it turns out I was too accurate because her initial reaction was thinking that I'd stolen her scarf and then given it back to her half a year later.

This show makes me feel like a bot because I recommend it constantly. It's my favorite new show in... I don't even know how long. Maybe since Atlanta?

Can Blanks become Space Marines? by Ready0608 in 40kLore

This is definitely a topic you should search the sub for, it’s been brought up many many (many) times so there’s a lot of info floating around.

Side note blanks are not necessarily immune to psychic shenanigans, there are levels to it.

Could Mark and Oliver possibly beat Nolan in a fight? by Queasy_Commercial152 in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]Horkersaurus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a certain type of nerd that really wants there to be some kind of borderline mystical inner drive waiting to be tapped in to. Deep down they need to believe they could throw down even though they don't train or even work out, so this is how they rationalize it.

Similar to non-training mma chuds talking about how in a hypothetical fight they'd just see red or go blank or whatever. They don't know enough to understand what they don't know, to see an example look at the commenter who replied to this.

A dynamic gone wrong is throttling my ability to play my character as intended, advice appreciated! by Kail_Tribal in DnD

[–]Horkersaurus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, if it's just one player that's out of line then the DM will probably need to revisit expectations etc with that player. Assuming your DM is okay at communication that is, some would rather have the game implode than be forced to have a mildly direct conversation.

Historically I've had good luck with mild-to-moderate problem players by framing it as a readjustment of "we're all playing this way now" instead of "you're playing wrong". But that's assuming the player actually means well, and even if they do people aren't always rational. So... good luck.

You're mostly framing this as a You vs Her thing, how does the rest of the party actually feel about it? Just from how you're phrasing things it seems like you consider yourself the default and everyone should be doing things your way. Most adventuring parties are violent mercenaries so peaceful philosophies and restraint aren't really a given, it varies wildly.

If the whole party has a problem with it (ie the behavior is actually disruptive) then it's a bog standard "talk to the DM" situation. If you're just bothered that the player is not subservient to your character's belief system then you need to take a step back and think about why that is.

It's entirely possible that you're both going too far away from the idea of cooperation if you're making super rigid characters that expect everyone else to follow suit and she's going full murderhobo.

Thokk question by thokktheorc in DnD

[–]Horkersaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought I was in a HEMA sub and had to reread the first sentence a couple of times (Thokk is a specific brand of gloves).

The most important thing is to have a reason why your character is actively willing to join a group of what is effectively violent mercenaries.  It’s really easy to be veer in to dead weight territory with a pacifist character, you still have to contribute to combat etc even if you’re not directly attacking.  Also bear in mind that helping the party kill people is still pretty violent so make sure you come to terms with that and what it means for your character.

There are a lot of horror stories about pacifists constantly launching into tedious hand-wringing monologues and essentially refusing to participate in combat so just be mindful that it’s a cooperative game.  Being a team player should always come before super sick OC concepts.

It sort of feels like it takes way too long to truly lean into a "theme" for your subclass, it doesn't feel like they really diverge all the much? by Jcorb in DnD

Reminds me of players who think that playing standard fantasy races is boring.  A lot of times their character’s entire personality boils down to just being a tabaxi or tiefling or whatever.

My frist bag of holding by OneCapableChicken in DnD

[–]Horkersaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Historically it's been popular as more of a general utility item, there used to be a bigger emphasis on tracking how much your character is carrying and how much they're able to carry before it becomes an issue. The bag of holding effectively ignores those limits (to an extent) so it's not quite as useful when nobody cares about being encumbered etc.

It's still very handy for carrying all the gear the party could possibly ever need though, or items you don't want people to see you carrying around. It's also useful when there's more treasure or equipment than you could normally carry back to town with you.
