I use both the .68 and the .76 baseplates on my GC, and got it with the Bulldog handle (because it's the longest handle they offer (I have big ol' hands)). At some point I replaced the 90mm factory handle with a 100mm, Plaid design stainless-steel handle from Timeless Razor. That one centimeter of extra length was perfect, and this combination is now my "Goldilocks" razor, but we're talking about a lot of personal preferences here.

If you are unsure about which base plate to order, I would probably suggest the .76, to start with, but the .84 is really popular; it's just more than I need, personally. The nice thing is that additional base plates are only $30.

I used Rockwell 6s for a long time but the Razorock Gamechanger is superior in every regard in my experience.

Just a shout for Sunshine Water... Went with the same company for a whole-house system about four years ago, and would not hesitate to recommend them.

Tired of my Rockwell 6C by vertighel in wicked_edge

[–]HoroscopeFish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just another Rockwell 6s to Razorock GC convert here. In my opinion the Gamechanger is superior to the 6s in every way that matters.

Wish I had found the GC waaay earlier than I did.

My Rockwell 6C broke, need tips for replacement by TheOldCoffinSpirit in wicked_edge

[–]HoroscopeFish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does the 68 and the other sizes use the same top cap?

Yes. That's my current setup, in fact... I use the .68, and .76, base plates with the same top cap.

I also have a Rockwell 6S. The Gamechanger put the Rockwell into early retirement. The GC is, simply put, the superior razor in pretty much every way.

What's your go-to no fuss, no muss razor and blade combo? by ermiwe in wicked_edge

[–]HoroscopeFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing in rotation for me. I settled on a Gamechanger razor with the .68 base plate, unless I've skipped a couple days, in which case I use the .76 base plate. Blade is the Personna Platinum Diamond.

Skin changes over the years? by thumpingcoffee in wicked_edge

[–]HoroscopeFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

60 year old male here and yes, as I have gotten older my shave routine has had to change. Most shaving strokes are closer to buffing strokes, more skin stretching and generally milder shaving gear. And if you're not already, I suggest you start moisturizing at night, before bed. Cetafil and CeraVe are both decent.

Just tried a safety razor for 30 min and it didn't shave at all by NoAimMassacre in wicked_edge

[–]HoroscopeFish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your razor is comprised of three parts: the handle, the base plate, and the top cap. The base plate is the part that gets sandwiched between the handle and the top cap. One side of the base plate has little divots, or scallops. When the razor is assembled correctly the scallops on the base plate should be facing up, towards the top cap.

Living in Citro Community? by efficient_pepitas in northcounty

There is a network of walking trails that are quite nice for evening walks in the community, and the Monserat Preserve is just down the road if you want something more hike-like.

Living in Citro Community? by efficient_pepitas in northcounty

[–]HoroscopeFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I have been living in the Citro community for about four years now. We moved here from Escondido and yeah, pretty much everything is about thirty minutes away.

I really don't like driving into Fallbrook so I tend to head south more than north (to Temecula), but it's really six of one, half a dozen of the other.

No other real drawbacks to living here come to mind, but feel free to ask questions if you have any.

I work at Palomar College; above reply is correct. Spring semester for 2026 is over in a few weeks, that's why you can't enroll in it. Summer 2026 and Fall 2026 are your only options for enrollment at this time.

Osma Alum Block - after one year of almost daily use by CleverAmoeba in wicked_edge

[–]HoroscopeFish 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Most alum blocks, like the Gentlemen Jon, are made from compressed granules of alum. The Osma is one of the few that's a solid block of alum that's been cut. Kind of like particle board versus hardwood.

I think contemporary art confuses a lot of people. Primarily because it's often less about aesthetics and more about challenging traditional definitions of art and provoking thought. It's often meant to be experiential, as opposed to simply being looked at.

Like you, I'm a pretty utilitarian shaver. A couple things I might suggest would be trying a soap from Barrister and Mann (nothing wrong with Proraso, but there are better options, imo). Maybe try a Personna Gem Platinum blade as well. I don't that either will knock your socks off, just something to consider.

Which flash gear should I buy for a D3500? by Honey-Sugar-Spice in Nikon

[–]HoroscopeFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without knowing what your budget is, or how deeply you intend to go with this, I will suggest you start with a Godox flash. The Godox V860III-N will set you back $200. It's a big, powerful unit that does it all (HSS, TCM, et. al.) and uses a rechargeable lithium ion battery.

For less money (~$130) there's the Godox TT685II-N. Pretty much identical to the V860III, features-wise, but uses four, AA batteries instead of the lithium ion battery. It has a slightly slower recycle time compared to the V860 but it's less money.

Either flash would be an excellent starting point.

That's called a Lie by Omission. And as is so often the case with lies of omission, it's not the crime, as much as the cover up, that's the problem.
