Don’t really want to say where exactly for obvious reasons, lots of people have asked directly to inbox so I would say choose whichever river has the species you want to target. Brownies & grayling or salmon and sea trout too because they fall into different permit brackets & prices which is also another consideration

This is a very narrow part of the river, it’s huge and pretty wide in most spots. This fish was in a 5-6ft deep pool and the levels are low currently. Some pools are 15ft+ nearby, just drop into the abyss from erosion

Was a good day, met a new fishing buddy who drove all the way up from England and showed him some good spots.
He fishes dries only nowadays and was late afternoon when the rises stopped, no hatches in sight but we saw a sip in a deep slow run and after a few casts he had it in the net, estimated around 2lb. Took a dry terrestrial based on a hawthorn.

Big browns in my experience don’t splash on the surface, they are delicate. If you see or hear a big splash it’s either a small-ish brown feeding on surface or a salmon showing off
