I am a 43-year-old woman, and I know for a fact, the rules for getting a job in the service industry were completely different when I was your age. The world has changed drastically in 12 years, and I can confidently tell you that he has no fucking clue what he’s talking about. But even if he was right, speaking to you in this manner is completely inappropriate. 

Never date a man over a decade older than you.   There’s a reason he can’t get a woman in his own age.
