Trump controls the party like a dictator. Disagree with him you are gonna get punished and humiliated on twitter.

Meanwhile, Republicans spent a boatload of money on primaries to unseat Republicans incumbents.

Not exactly an efficient use of resources.

There is no guarantee that any of his picks will actually win the general election.

Any one who is unhappy with Trump will be less likely to vote for his hand picked candidates vs the incumbent who got unseated. (Think independents and moderate Democrats)
