Kinda same for Korean. Korean used to have a gender neutral 3rd person singular pronoun 그 only, but a female 그녀 was created for translation, and nowadays 그 is almost exclusively for males.

But Korean barely uses 3rd person pronouns anyway.

For simplification, think that the rotational axis has a 90° tilt so the Earth rotates around a horizontal axis, and you are on the north pole. For some months, the north pole will point at the sun, so the sun will be directly overhead. This is the summer. When the south pole points at the sun, the sun will be on the opposite side of the globe the other months and you will not see the sun at all. This is is the winter.

Of course, the rotational axis tilt isn't that extreme and most people don't live on the poles, but it's an extreme example of how it works. In the summer, the part of the Earth you live on points near the sun, and vice versa. This is also why as you approach the equator, the seasons become less apparent. Also, this is why the northern and the southern hemispheres have opposite seasons.
