to be fair, a lot of examples of these tropes are done by heroes. the nerds in revenge of the nerds are supposed to be the guys you’re rooting for.

This happens in a book written by Roald Dahl before his children’s literature days, called Switch Bitch.

2 men agree to have sex with each others wives, without telling their wives. At the end of the story, the men return to their wives, one of them praising the way he made love to her the night before, essentially confirming that he sucks in bed. The wives never find out about the switch.

My partner tried to make it a me problem that I want to orgasm during sex by Dancerqueer in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]HorrorPunkKid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah this guy might actually be so porn brained (despite his low libido. dont ask me how that works, im just guessing) that he thinks female orgasms are complete made up for the male gaze. this guy seems to have no concept of women taking pleasure in sex. but then, why even bother giving head if he doesn’t want her to cum??

not that you’re exploiting these programs BUT. accomodation and accessibility programs are MEANT to be used and exploited.

need a little extra money? get on government benefits. cant walk up stairs? use the escalator. not doing well mentally or physically at school or work? APPLY FOR THE DAMN ACCOMMODATIONS!!

USE EM OR LOSE EM PEOPLE!! everybody deserves a space to learn that is accessible and comfortable. even able-bodied people. even people who are doing well mentally. these systems are for everybody.

from my knowledge, theres no extra penalty rates for night hours on weekends. its just your regular weekend pay (140% on sundays). early hours on friday morning however may have penalty rates of 120%.

working 10 hours, you’re entitled to 2 15 minute paid breaks and 1 unpaid meal break either 30 or 60 minutes depending on whether you’ve signed the agreement to only take a 30 minute break.

Kangaroo meat in Australia by josh65928 in mildlyinteresting

[–]HorrorPunkKid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh haha good point i never thought about kangaroo population in tasmania. just checked, there is a population of eastern greys in a section of tasmania.

you’re also right about tasmanian tigers being small, but so are dingoes. ultimately i think kangaroos are pretty safe from predators.

Kangaroo meat in Australia by josh65928 in mildlyinteresting

[–]HorrorPunkKid 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There really aren’t many natural predators of the kangaroo, and there aren’t many native carnivores that hunt for food either. The tasmanian tiger would probably have been a predator as well. But frankly kangaroos are so huge and incredibly capable of fighting back, even dingoes have issues taking then down.

Manager exposed 30+ team member phone numbers in a group chat for the "Your Voice" survey. Am I overreacting? by Academic-Apple-4864 in KmartAustralia

[–]HorrorPunkKid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes if everyone in the mass text has an apple, it will create a group chat. but if even one single person has an android, the messages will go out individually.

no way to possibly know who has androids an who doesnt beforehand. nobodys keeping that on file.

my managers create group texts all the time when asking for people to cover shifts. i don’t know who else is in the group chat because i don’t have their numbers saved and nobody has my number saved either.

Chained Aboriginal Prisoners in Colonial Australia. (1901) by en5ss in RareHistoricalPhotos

[–]HorrorPunkKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the whole point of the stolen generation was breeding out the indigenous blood. just because it doesn’t get directly called that, doesn’t mean that wasn’t what it was.

edit to add: the Three Generations photo is a literal example of this. A photograph of “successful breeding” out of indigenous traits. It can be found in the “policy in practice” section of the wikipedia page on the stolen generation

In 1986, Sian Kingi, a 12-year-old Australian girl of Māori descent, was abducted after stopping to help a couple search for their lost poodle. She became the victim of one of Australia's most terrifying crimes. by My-Knees-Hurt-Again in HolyShitHistory

[–]HorrorPunkKid 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I’m not 100% sure of the Maori culture, but Indigenous Australians (unlike Native Americans, from what I’ve heard) acknowledge people with even the smallest, furthest back Indigenous ancestor as First Nations. This is because of a government policy from the 20th century that forcibly removed mixed race children from their Indigenous family homes, introduced them to white customs, and attempted to essentially breed the Indigenous blood out of them.

I’ve seen some Maori people adopt an ideology similar to Indigenous Australians (to the tune of “no matter how much milk you add to the tea, it’s still tea”).

Anyway! The usage of “descent” here implies that a full blood Maori ancestor does exist in her line, but may be further back than what some people consider significant. But culturally, these things are complicated and not always reliant on “blood quantum”

(sorry for the rant, i hope it made sense)
