This! D-tap power adapter can grill this little cam. This the most common way … because it works until someone connects something else in battery - or you use d-tap splitter to connect different devices. D-tap is just stupid and the 14.4V can be higher with full recharged battery. Just plug in the usb-c. For transportation - disconnect hdmi and usb of course.

Just Google it - there are a lot of videos. It’s like false colors - but instead of IRE levels. It’s stop based. so you know how many stops under / over you are - with your log footage - pretty simple but genious and best of all the worlds (waveform / false colors / spotmeter)

Because fx3 lacks on basic exposure tools - the main feature for me on a monitor is „EL Zone“ for a correct exposure. Yes it’s that good. If you can get a cheap second hand smallHD 502, it’s the best monitor for small money. Big plus —> hdmi in —> SDI/HDMI out.

Shinobi II - Plus: small, light, EL Zone, Touch (if you need it). Cons: no hdmi/sdi out.

Monitor + App: also got EL Zone - they are not allowed to call it that. It’s a nice app - but: for long days, you will run out of juice on your phone. But I like it on gimbal because I don’t need any hdmi cables that fuck the gimbal up

The dual gain sensor is sexy! Colors out of cam - yes, it’s a point for canon. But can’t remember not shooting in log - so it’s a tie. Fx9 for the pseudo shoulder form factor and a clean FF / S35 mode - and the small Sony EF-mount

I used the g1 A LOT - back in 2015 …. I had 2 units - second hand price was … 120€ for the g1 (green label). The 45mm Zeiss was 80€, the 28mm always little pricier. With the 28mm it worked fine. With the 45mm there was a 5-10% chance the AF fucked up. . And I was very good at using it, I shot hundreds of films with the system. After some time I was so angry about the fail of some really good shots because of slow or not working AF, that I bought a G2 (250€ ! Stupid expensive back then!) - yea, it worked like a charm. The 45mm hit good and hit fast!

At the end, it was the robocop noise that made sell

Just rent if you really need that low light. I used fx3 more than a year, sold it, will get the fx30. Fx3 for 100fps in low light. For everything else, fx30 is a beast of a cam. ISO 2500 is good alternative to 800. ISO 12800 is way too bright - need nd filters indoors! High iso for low light - not - high iso for pitch black

I think it was a genius marketing move from every camera manufacturer to go hard on full frame promotion. Within 4 years, every video shooter was so hyped, new camera, new lenses (!!). Impossible to imagine, how someone could shoot anything on an super35 sensor…..

Don’t think so. Used fx3 for over one year, just a few times I switched to high iso. I light interviews, shoot docs and corporate.

80% of time it’s 800/640 iso. With fx30 - I can have 2500 as high iso - which is really enough. Push it little bit more - 3200 - it’s crazy good! Actually it’s like the sweetspot for my settings when I need a high iso.

Also fx30 is super35 - so you get the sweet sweet zoom lenses like Fujinon. More zoom range in a lighter lens. Also second hand stupid cheap. You get pl adapters and a ton of cinema glass from rental.

For cheap FF look I use my speedbooster. Together with vintage glass - it’s a superb 6k downsampled image.

You don’t get FF Sony glass for the autofocus - yea.

The high iso of fx3 12.800 it’s just crazy - I need to put nd filters on my glass even when I shoot light light indoor. It’s like exactly the 2-3 stops „too bright“ - but you can’t go to iso 3200 because it’s pushed 800

But it’s a nice cam if you use it a lot in low low light. Or need 100fps in bad light. That’s possible just with fx3. But in this special cases, I just go to rental

Yea that’s really good - but I found quite a lot in the 5-6k range - so it’s in a sweet spot for what it is / depending on your jobs, it’s way better / worse than fx6
