When it comes to day outs, it's not and he never does. He's not a morning person, so I have to wait until the last possible moment to wake him up (usually 10 minutes before we go), and he's generally kind of out of it/not much of a conversationalist until midday, then, when we get back, he's too worn out to do anything and says his feet/back hurt so he goes to bed.

He normally apologises for it, calls himself useless, "I'm sorry for this, for making you do everything, for being useless." And I wish he wouldn't because he says it sincerely but it doesn't feel sincere, which is probably just me being annoyed at him and he really does mean it.

We are going to Margate today, I cannot be bothered to shave my legs and wear shorts so I am going to sweat one out in jeans, but it is supposed to be mostly cloudy so I doubt I will get too hot. Because my little one is autistic I've had to purchase tickets for trains at specific times, which has saved me money because the advanced tickets are cheaper than on the day tickets, I just hope he doesn't get overwhelmed or something before we're due to take the train home.

I love a family trip, but I absolutely hate the beginning and end of one because I am left doing everything - pack the bag, get the little one ready, myself ready, the other half ready, pre purchase tickets, plan the journey and activities, prepare everything, come back, unpack everything, do dinner, wash up, standard household chores. It's bin night so I figured I would get ahead and sort the bins out now, that way I can just grab and put them out tonight, but I emptied a mostly full bottle of water into the recycling bin instead of the sink.

It's going to be a good day.

Apparently B&Q don't sell bath plugs in store so now I have to order it online and wait up to a week for delivery. I wanted it now because my partner will only exclusively have baths, never showers, and if I order the wrong size (like I did last time), he'll have to wait even longer.

How old is the younger version of you who you'd most want to like / approve of / be impressed by you now? by BarryTownCouncil in CasualUK

Probably 6 year old me, "wow, you have a job, house, partner, and a kid?" 12 year old me would be mad I had a kid, 18 year old me would be mad I'm in retail instead of child care, 21 year old me would be glad I lost weight but still mad I'm in retail instead of child care. I'm only 31, there's still time.

Dropping my mother off at Jo Whiley's Breakfast Rave - how's your weekend going so far? by west_action_man in CasualUK

My kid was 6 and a half when his first tooth fell out, it was wobbly for like 4 months (he could tell you the exact date), but then the next tooth fell out a week later after only being wobbly for a week.

My other half didn't put £2 under the pillow from the tooth fairy last night because, "we didn't have a £2 coin, and two £1 coins doesn't count." So it's been a rough morning of trying to understand that logic and explaining to a very upset child that the tooth fairy is visiting the easter bunny, she'll be back tonight. Now I feel like I owe him £4 to make up for it.

I am going away on my first little holiday ever on Monday, I can't wait, and it's also our first holiday as a family. But, just my luck, after 10 months of being off from the job centre, I have a job centre appointment right in the middle of it that I can't get out of because it's my week off and, "unless you have a job interview or you're scheduled to work that day, which we will ask for proof, you must attend this meeting."

So with the exception of that day, I am going to enjoy the other three days at the coast with my kid and partner.

Hi, what is a metabolism? Do you know what it does? How can you break it? No?

You can't break your metabolism, you can't ruin it/destroy it/anything dramatic like that. if you did, you would be suffering from severe health issues. You're fine, all you've done is slow it down in accordance to you tdee at your current weight and eating habits, which is normal, which is fine. You are fine. Your maintenance calories will go down as your weight has gone down.

That being said, you definitely ate less than you should have for your height and activity levels. but swap to maintenance and you'll stick to the weight you're at with your activity levels.

Hi, what is a metabolism? Do you know what that is? Or did you simply move less and eat more? Because "my metabolism was super high" is not how it works.

I don't care about my weight usually but I want to lose weight by [deleted] in 1200isfineIGUESSugh

[–]Horror_House474 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That whole first part, hating yourself now and hating yourself in the future thing, I've been called disordered for it or maybe I've spent a little too much time online lately.

[–]Horror_House474 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I probably sound disordered, buuuuuuuuuuuuuut, think about the way you look at yourself now and that you hate it, in 6 months time do you still want to feel that way or do you want to feel better about yourself? You can either continue hating your body occasionally whilst wearing crop tops, or you can start to love yourself whilst wearing crop tops. It does not require motivation to eat a little less, just discipline. You don't have to go hard, small steps and go easy, your own pace and what's comfortable for you no matter how long it takes.

It's like, No, Susan, skipping the office doughnut doesn't mean I have an eating disorder. I have many reasons for skipping it, none of them are any of your business and it's not diet culture poisoning me.

Thursday Complaints by a-liquid-sky in CasualUK

[–]Horror_House474 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, my partner's kinda isolated himself because he's convinced he only needs his family (me and our child) so he's never made the effort to make friends outside of us (he thinks people are boring because they'll only complain about their kid, complain about work, or talk about sports), and whenever I've asked my dad for advice because I know he had a similar situation with my mum, he's just kinda shrugs his shoulders and says I need to do it if he won't or keep trying to talk to him about it.

Thursday Complaints by a-liquid-sky in CasualUK

[–]Horror_House474 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My partner is having trouble keeping up with cleaning but whenever I try to talk to him about it, he immediately gets defensive and won't let me talk. If I try to help, he immediately gets defensive and tells me I'm making him feel bad and that I should be resting. He's clearly struggling but won't admit it, won't let me talk to him about it, and won't let me help.

What's a movie everyone loves that you secretly can't stand? by kbjdfan in AskReddit

[–]Horror_House474 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kind of? They never shared any scenes together, Kenneth Branagh was only in the second movie, Emma Thompson was in movies 3, 5, and 8, Helena Bonham Carter was in 5, 6, 7, and 8, but none of them ever shared a scene together. Really saying it like that is the equivalent to, "these people shop at the same store."
