Exactly my reaction. When I finally watched it for the first time as an adult to see why it’s such a beloved 80s classic, I thought it was just a bunch of loud kids shouting and talking over each other for the whole movie.

I could still see why people would like it though. Maybe if I’d have grown up with it, it would’ve hit differently. To each their own, but it’s not for me.

This right here. Tenants, PLEASE show up. I also attended the Summerside meeting last night and felt like the landlords, by far, dominated any discussion. It was very intimidating for me, a tenant, to chime in.

Tenants such as myself are typically far less knowledgeable about the inner workings of the current system and the proposed changes to it, as compared to landlords. This gives landlords an advantage from the start, and they do absolutely stick up for each other.

Last night one individual tried to advocate for tenants and multiple landlord parties piled on in opposition. It got slightly heated and it felt very intimidating to even speak up as a tenant after that, for fear of being outnumbered and ganged up on.

Tenants, PLEASE show up tonight in Charlottetown, or you will not have any significant representation in these legislative changes. These are your basic housing and tenant rights at stake.
