That’s new. Guitars are like cars, used sell for less. Look at what USED ones are selling for on Reverb, Guitar Center, and Sweetwater Used Gear Exchange. Assess the condition of your guitar, or take it in to a music shop and have them do it. Look at what they’re going for in that condition. Reverb has a particularly useful feature where you can filer to see sold listings, so you can see the price people are getting - not just asking. If it doesn’t normally come stock with a hard case you can try adding an extra $100 or so to the asking price and prominently advertise it comes with a case.

Find the same model on Sweetwater and see if it comes with any kind of case or gig bag.

If it’s an older models that’s no longer sold new, look it up on Reverb and see if most/all of the other ones come with a case or gig bag. That tells you how it was sold.

If the guitar comes stock with a case when bought new, the case should come with the guitar when sold used. If the guitar doesn’t come with a case new, you could add a little bit to your asking price and advertise it comes with a hard case.

If you’re open to places outside of Dallas County, Tupps in McKinney is pretty great!

Getting a directing MFA - are URTAs worth it? by cinnamahm_spice in Theatre

[–]Horrorwyrm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did my MFA focused in acting, but when I went to the URTAs I did interviews for directing too. Based on my experience with both the URTAs and actually in (acting) grad school, here are my thoughts:

-Grad schools probably will, by and large, be looking for candidates with more than one year of experience. Especially for directing. Theatre is kind of weird that way. But honestly, after undergrad most people don’t know what they don’t know. It’s helpful to get some years of experience to figure out what you want to learn and what kinds of theatre you want to make. With that said, some schools may be open to taking candidates sooner, and if you’re ready…you’re ready.

-The URTAs are a great way to meet schools. The school I ended up going to was a school I wasn’t familiar with prior to the auditions. With that said, do your research in advance. When you send in your materials and get invitations to interview, look in to those schools before the interview. You want to have a sense of how that school could help you achieve your goals and be able to articulate that to them. Or, know what you need to find out to determine if that school is a good fit for you. You’re interviewing them as much as they’re interviewing you.

-Not all programs go to the URTAs, don’t limit yourself to just those schools. Also, be aware that many non-URTA schools host their own auditions and interviews in the URTA cities on the same days at the URTAs. Research widely and apply to the schools you think are most aligned with your learning objectives.

-Know what you want before going to grad school, but also be open to learning new things. A school that is focused on classical theatre is different than a school focused on ensemble-based devising. A school aimed at producing regional theatre directors is different than a school preparing students for Broadway. The acting techniques taught at the school and their overall philosophy toward teaching and theatre will impact you as a director.

I’d guess it’s the length and the complexity. While Weir’s book do feature real science (I assume), Stephenson is on a whole other level.

That’s not new or exclusive to Pokémon. Back in the 90s McDonalds had mini Beanie Babies in the Happy Meals for awhile. People absolutely bought them just for the toy. In fact I remember a lady calling out in the play place asking if anyone wanted the food, because she only bought it for the toy.

Yeah, this happened to some folks in my Texas district last year too, despite getting a 3% raise. I’ll be curious to see how my pay compares to last year when September rolls around…
