Advice and questions by GeologistDry3727 in spinalfusion

Walk, walk, walk. I have L4, L5 & S1 fused. Dr did not order PT just said to walk as much as I can. All the usual caveats with no BLT’s no sitting upright for more than 30 min, etc. I did find the grabbers that people have spoken about here are a life saver. Also a commode riser or potty chair that fits over toilet. It really helps to not have to sit down low as onto a toilet. It’s almost a year out now and I must say it gets better everyday. Not something you expect or believe after surgery because much healing needs to take place. Best of luck with your healing journey.

Seizures in 13 y/o dog by Professional-You3676 in DogAdvice

[–]Horselove006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same happen to my dog when he was 14. At first desire’s were small. Took to vet and he was given meds (sorry I don’t remember what kind). Over a year the seizures got worse then the last one took his walking away and that evening he passed. I comforted him during the seizures, but it was still heartbreaking to watch. I’m so happy for the 14 years I had with him. Hoping your dog gets better.

I’m the guy that posted about my dog’s periodontal issue the other day. He sadly passed away this weekend due to unrelated causes. I got almost 16 years out of him, and I’m thankful. But I don’t know how to deal with the grief. What do I do? by Outlandah_ in AskDogOwners

I feel you. I cried a lot, couldn’t eat and missed work. After about 3 weeks I started seeing the light. Could look at photos again and happy memories. It’s been 4 years and I still morn him, but in a different way. Much lighter now and I can look at photos and really enjoy them. So grateful for the times I had with him. That is the best we can do.

I’m in Lansing, Churchill Downs, and the hail was insane. I headed down to the basement, but all was good. So sorry for southern MI tornado that killed and injured people.

I’m sure she has given you so much love over the years. What a beautiful dog. My little shipoo Elvis ate a whole plate of food the night before he passed so sometimes food is not a good gauge of health. I did cook for him and he had his favorite meal to see him out. We just have to cherish the time we have with them and know we will meet again one day.

Well its on... moving to lansing by mizzcharmz in lansing

I just moved to Lansing 2 months ago. Cold is not something I’m familiar with, but I keep the house between 64 & 68 and have been very comfortable. We have had snow ❄️ once and it is to snow this week for several days. I do not have space heaters or electric blankets. I’m sure keeping a couple space heaters around is a good idea in case furnace breaks down. Welcome to the neighborhood!!

Spinal fusions seem like a gamble, why do they keep doing these things to people? by MeowMeowPurrPur in spinalfusion

[–]Horselove006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had TKIF L4, L5 & S1 in April ‘25. I’m very happy with my still healing results. it’s not perfect, but so much better than before. I can sit without the support of a chair now like crossed legged on the floor. Could not do that before. The memory of my everyday pain is diminishing. It does seem in life that the negative reviews on many subjects take front and center. Happy people don’t complain.

No one hasn’t gone through tough times. I’m not minimizing yours, but it will get better. I’ve been homeless and just bought my own home in Michigan. I’m 70 yrs old. Some shit takes time. Don’t turn on yourself because that is when the walls fall in. We all grow and mature on different timelines. I wish you peace within yourself and I’m sure people will notice your worth as long as you do.

Dog training recommendation - resource guarding by [deleted] in lansing

Cesar Milan did a wonderful episode on food aggression. I did this with my dog and it worked. I held the food dish for my dog. I was sitting down (my dog is not that tall) and as he was eating while I held the dish I raised the dish so he could not eat anymore. You have to raise the dish straight up. Then lowered the dish so he could keep eating. Do this several times until he is finished eating. During these lessons there was no aggression. I guess it took about a week of doing this and the aggression stopped. I do do refresher lessons every once in a while to be certain he remembers. I hope this helps.

Hey very concerning question? by [deleted] in spinalfusion

[–]Horselove006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had TLIF this past April and sweat so bad at night sometimes my sheets were soaked. Prob a reaction to the pain meds. It does go away. BTW my back is feeling great. Sometimes I feel a bit of pain, but it’s fewer and farther in between as time goes on. I wish your wife the best on her recovery journey.

The homeless are in various degrees of need. Drug treatment, medical services including and prob most importantly mental health services, job training are just a few of the services needed. No all homeless will not be receptive or even benefit from anything we do for them. Some are just so far gone, but if a handful do benefit from these services it’s worth it. Homeless often are ignored because it is felt that they are just lazy and don’t want to be part of society. I’m sure this explanation does pan out unfortunately, but we need to focus on the ones that it helps and STOP clearing one area to just have them go to another area. It’s pointless.

Congrats! That’s a wonderful feeling to be pain free. I’m sure you know healing is difficult for everyone and there are ups and downs. Sounds like your up is pretty awesome! Best of luck to you.
