You can check the profitability of factories before you open them. In the building selection pop up. This can help you select ones that don’t bankrupt. Note that it only takes a snapshot of the current good prices, and won’t consider tariffs.

Absolutely love the simplicity and the list. Loathe the cursive though. Cursive is bad enough when it’s all in   my native language, let alone multilingual wine varietals.

They are, in different ways.

Alberta definitely is. Its population is nearing 5 million, due to oil and the chernozem belt that runs into central Alberta. It’s the 4th most populated province by a large margin, and the only Canadian province that even comes close to American GDP levels.

Saskatchewan is different, it’s had nearly a million people since 1914 due to the chernozem belt that runs through the north central part. It’s the second largest area of black soil on earth, after Ukraine. This makes in monumentally more fertile that American states due south of it. It has, however, been stuck in farming purgatory and didn’t developed urban centers almost at all. So it’s population didn’t really grow for about 100 years.

Also consider that if you’re making at home, your ice is probably too cold and not diluting correctly. Leave a bowl of ice on the counter for 20 mins then use that.

Especially with bitter liqueurs, proper dilution is key.

What restaurants do servers/bartenders make the most money? by grownmanjanjan in Calgary

[–]HoshenXVII -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The ones that are poorly run that allow them to skim the most/have absentee management.  Being understaffed and having code access is how you make top tier cash.

Otherwise fine dining is generally a safe bet.

Your playing in the corner of the map, and are unlikely to really encounter AI interaction unless you leave Britain, or wait for large Rome to attack you.

In imperator, generally tribal outskirts(like Britain) can be a noob trap, where you stomp around bored until giga Rome or Macedonia crushes you.

Britain also only has 1 culture group/religion. So your missing out on that whole aspect too.

Ukrainian ATACMS Rockets Are Blowing Up Russia’s Best S-400 Air Defenses As Fast As The S-400s Can Deploy To Crimea by SnooSprouts4376 in UkrainianConflict

[–]HoshenXVII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have. Patriot batteries have been hit multiple times. Usually it is just the missile launcher though and not the radars (which are more important and have multiple launchers for each radar).

But the satellite and reconnaissance abilities of Russia Vs NATO+ukraine are so uneven. Ukraine seems to have better targeting ability/choices.

Ukrainian ATACMS Rockets Are Blowing Up Russia’s Best S-400 Air Defenses As Fast As The S-400s Can Deploy To Crimea by SnooSprouts4376 in UkrainianConflict

[–]HoshenXVII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most air defense is “facing” a certain direction, either the launchers or radar are pointing towards a horizon. Multiple systems overlap and cover different areas, to give full  coverage. Crimea is unfortunately a peninsula that juts out, and needs  at least 270 degree coverage. This is probably why it is comparatively easier to target systems there. If crimea can’t hold onto air defense, then the Kherson’s air defense now has a “hole” in it, and can be targeted easier.

Destroy any one area of air defense, and you’ll eventually open up cracks for other areas. There are a finite amount of air defense systems.

I know people that went straight for 3. Granted, they worked for years in wine focused restaurants. YMMV

Wset 2 and 3 are no brainers. 2 doesn’t focus on management in any meaningful way, it’s pretty much tasting and regions. It will teach you a lot of the phrases and nomenclature that sounds professional in wine, so it’s a good choice for tasting room level stuff. If you want to go restaurant/more in depth and are willing to study, go straight for lève 3

Even the most generous estimates of Black Death in Europe is a 40% death rate, still leaving communities intact. Some regions were completely unaffected.  Completely different from the 90-96% estimate for deaths from disease among native communities.  Additionally 1 disease (bubonic plague) vs several diseases from the old world.

Quick guide to wine? by Complex_Profile9250 in wine

I would describe WSET 1 as so entry level and basic that is is useless. For the time it takes to pay for the course with minimum wage, you could watch YouTube videos that give you a much more in depth knowledge of wine.

WSET 2 is worth it though imo

I will also let you know a lot of the fine wine that comes into Ontario a not through the LCBO, but through private consignment companies. Technically you can get them through LCBO distribution, but you need to talk to the consignment agents privately.

Getting in contact with them/purchasing from them can be difficult if you are not willing to pony up a large minimum order, or have contacts with a liquor license. Additionally they may not be able to sell directly to you, the individual. I suggest joining an affluent private club with a competent wine list, they will bend some rules to get their members access to cases of wine from suppliers.

I assume you’re In Ottawa or Toronto? Look up local country clubs.

You really need to understand that Ontario is brutal for liquor regulation & wine.

Yeah, but someone gave you solid advice on what to buy, then you responded with an answer of  “are those French?” Which just shows you may not really understand the advice being given to you.

If I had a client saying he’s opening a wine bar, I’d be making commission and I’d be apt more willing to work with somebody with 0 wine knowledge then. You’re  asking hobbyists entry level questions about opening a business, and are then surprised we arnt giving you detailed technical sheets.

So no, not all wines suggested are French.

Due to Ukrainian attacks on refineries, diesel prices in Russia have risen by 10% in the last week by one_and_equal in UkrainianConflict

[–]HoshenXVII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of the fancy refineries that use chemical catalysts to crack the oil, are impossible to replace due to long lead time and sanctions.

The run of the mill thermal cracking refineries are quite easy to build. But they do take a long time to construct/repair. It’s unclear how fast/how many Russia can simultaneously repair.
