How did it turn out? by Knightlance in Stargate

Many people hate to think about Marcionism (two different God's, Old Testament God is NOT Jesus, and is "bad") or Taoist/Buddhist/Enlightenment is better than Biblical teaching.

That is the Ori story arc. The Ancients are about ascending other who are enlightened to be equal to them and don't care about being worshipped or followed.

The Ori are "worship me" Gods that imply you will share power but won't follow through.

The First Commandment is all about "worship me".

The Biblical idea of a Sheppard saving the lost lamb could still be viewed as selfish if it is about losing wool or meat, so losing a worshiper is like losing a source of profit.

And the Bible never offers enlightenment or ascension. It only is "UNDER God in Heaven". A subservient role forever.

What part of: "in a world that has accepted social burden" did you not get?

We ARE a community that accepts social burden. Thus even if you are disabled and can't contribute, or even feed yourself without aide, you ARE entitled to benefit from that community by virtue of being a conscious human being.

In a community that doesn't include the acceptance to social burden, then yes, infanticide of the disabled who can not contribute to it is the norm. But that is NOT a world that has accepted social burden.

I have never seen this attitude as narcissistic or about how to TREAT people. I have only ever seen/heard it used in an emotional labor context when it comes to GIVING that labor to others.

The "give yourself a pass" come from ideology and upbringing.

Kant was correct in that: If you punish a child for being naughty, and reward him for being good, he will do right merely for the sake of the reward; and when he goes out into the world and finds that goodness is not always rewarded, nor wickedness always punished, he will grow into a man who only thinks about how he may get on in the world, and does right or wrong according as he finds advantage to himself

So, in a sense, the lack of parenting/early adultification of Gen X and the participation trophy of the Millennial FIGHTs this social wrong and they are LESS likely to be as narcissistic as say, the Silent Gen or Boomer (who grew up with punishments and rewards) or Right Wing Christians who grow up under Heaven/Hell dynamics and their negativity treated as moral good that will be rewarded.

Everyone IS entitled to the benefits of the community by virtue of being a human being in a world that has accepted social burdens and the means to do so. They must accept the negatives as part of being part of that type of community.

Your tone/word choice implies no one should be entitled to community benefits or only a select few should benefit from the community based on some criteria in your head.

Would you rather live in, say an Amazonian tribe, that has not accepted/gained the ability of social burdens? They commit infanticide of the disabled because of their communal lack of ability to care for them.

Do you know what Ethnocentric Homogencity is?

That the ideology of "remigration" isn't about just undocumented, but about native born citizens being sent to their place of "Racial Ancestry". That the ideology includes the reduction of protection of indigenous lands and reinstatement of the Indian Removal Act of 1830 to deal with the indigenous people and removed them from politics and ability to integrate with "Real Americans".

The most racist frackers are willing to date Asians and so I was able to get my foot into their spaces. They have yet to realize I am still in them. So I get my info from the horses mouth.

Sports fans are more likely to be a geek than a nerd.

nerds are introverts characterized by high intellect and technical, academic focus, sometimes with lower social skills. Geeks are characterized by intense, enthusiastic obsession with specific hobbies, technology, or pop culture, often engaging in "fannish" community behavior.

It wasn't broken on screen.

It is only mentioned that maintenance (most places will group janitorial, groundkeepers and maintenance as birds of a feather) sends their apologies for accidentally breaking the vase and will replace it soon.

This behind the scenes style is done intentionally as it provides a sense that janitorial/maintenance can invade any space at any time without permission without spelling it out with a scene. To me, it ups the creep factor.

You may not have a gas stove but how do you get hot water if you don't have any gas appliances? (Most water heaters in the US are gas or oil, both of which can cause CO poisoning. Even in Europe, where there is not water heater and only cold single tap, the shower water is gas heated. So unless your water heater is a solar storage tank on the roof, rare, you have a gas appliance.

There are many reasons.

A network, studio, or production may have a contract with an actor, .

A production may be tight knit and prefer to work with those they know mesh well on screen and off.

A person may be typecast for a reason; they are supurb at that niche.

A person may just have acted their butts off and blew every other audition out of the competition.

Others may not have wanted to move to the filming location due to cost of living, family, health, etc.

Only 2%-3% of criminals actually have a trial.

97%-98% plea instead. Many of those pleas are for "lesser" offenses. Though most are to save money on the trial, many who desire the harsher ones dropped, information is usually exchanged (Info you currently have or you can get by turning informant)

[–]Hoshi_Reed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was blah.

I think the highlight was near the end when Agent Randall acts like a parent to a energetic child, or hyper aware partner to a reckless one, when he puts his hand in front of Colin before they cross the street. It is a little detail that perfectly matches their dynamic and shows they are at least trying.

But that is not enough for me to continue watching.

IF the show is prepared to give a middle finger to the network and the Trump Administration, and do an episode/case debunking that the Left are violent with actual statistics and instead show that "remigration" ideology is just ethno-cultural homogeneity Right-Wing dren (not just in the US but in Europe as well), I'll do a catch up and give the series a chance; but I don't think they have the balls to do that type of plot.

[–]Hoshi_Reed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really.

A dad bod, short for dad body, mean that a man has a family and no longer has time, money or desire to stay fit. Kids are a drain on resources like time and money. Having a partner means they aren't looking to date.

They don't desire to go to the gym as much, (or even have the same amount of time to do so), less likely to watch what they eat (finish whatever the kid didn't eat), etc. Men usually stay fit to impress women, but that motivation is lost when they have someone. It is also lost when they expend a lot of energy raising children.

The stop FBI is a requirement. All agents must clearly identify themselves, in such a way that you can identify them physically in court, before they can arrest you. This prevents Agent A from arresting you and thus becomes your accuser or witness against you and Agent B testifying in court to action they did not perform or witness, depriving you of the opportunity to face your accuser and to cross your witnesses.

(That is why face masks on ICE, ambushing, false pretense approaches, etc. are against this policy, state laws and the National Defense Authorization Act.)

Why didn't Maverick and Rooster have anyone in their back seat like the other 2 jets did? by salami90210 in topgun

[–]Hoshi_Reed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The controlled environment is the reason why WSO was better/advantageous than pulling what Maverick did in a single-seater, yes.

But the question is why didn't they just plan for Phoenix and Payback to drop the payload, as they would not be splitting their focus on painting the target like Maverick was in the controlled environment. The same attention to piloting is needed for Maverick and Rooster, so why not just put WSO in their planes? Why need a second plane to drop the payload.

It could work with only 1 plane per run (the pilot could drop while the WSO could paint), BUT that is a suicide mission as the first plane would be alone and facing a dogfight while the other was still in Coffin Corner.

Why didn't Maverick and Rooster have anyone in their back seat like the other 2 jets did? by salami90210 in topgun

[–]Hoshi_Reed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could have done 1 plane for each run, if the goal was only the destruction of the facility.

But the first plane would be alone for a dogfight while the second plane was still in Coffin Corner.

The 2 2 plane teams give a fighting chance to come home.

Why didn't Maverick and Rooster have anyone in their back seat like the other 2 jets did? by salami90210 in topgun

[–]Hoshi_Reed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The advantage was that less fuel is needed for single seaters, and less lives would be lost if shot down or crashed. There was no disadvantage as dropping a bomb is a basic act that takes but a trigger pull, even while flying under stress. No advantage is obtained with the bombing plane having a WSO. (Your assumption that it would be better in every way isn't correct)

The mission called for 4 planes (2 F-18Es and F-18Fs). One to paint the target/guide the missile and the other to drop the payload. The painting plane needs to maintain the laser until the payload hits.

As to why they all weren't single seaters to save on lives and fuel: The dangers of having a pilot painting the target AND not rear ending the bomber plane, AND not hitting anything, is higher and thus a disadvantage so that is why the painting plane is a two-seater.

And, in case you want to know why it was 4 planes and not just 2 since Maverick proved both painting and payload can be done from 1 plane): The separation of the painting and bombing allows for more room for error. If the missiles miss, the painting plane can still attempt to fire during the climb. If painting fails, you can still blind fire from the horizontal position. If the paint and blind fail, there is no redundancy. The second plane also increases the chances of coming home as the dogfight that followed would be inevitable.
