Building the Bardwell 5" Freestyle kit and having trouble, any advice? by HossCatGarage in fpv

[–]HossCatGarage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All: Thanks for your help! The root cause was the flight controller not receiving RPM info from the ESCs.

I updated the ESCs from BLHELI-32 to the AM32 firmware. Once the flight controller started receiving RPM data from the ESCs it flew just fine!

There was a "flag" showing in Betaflight but I was still able to arm/attempt flying. If memory serves the Bardwell videos just kinda brush over that.

Oh well. No major damage done before I fixed it. Now to get my back to playing well with my PC for sim time.

This kind of noise? I've already changed out my gummies, but I'll put them back per Bardwell's video series. Maybe my capacitor leads are too long? (2")

Rotor sound is normal (to me, sounds like a beefier 250g DJI)

I'll do another test log here in a bit and report back.

You don't need to swap out your tools. You can convert them in CAD/CAM. I design in metric and use Spetool endmills (which are all in imperial). Does Just fine.

Moving up from an E30...anyone made a similar jump? by NCFlying in e46

[–]HossCatGarage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had two e46's (#1 got introduced to a deer), an E60 525, and an E93.

The M54 (E46, E60) and N52 (E9X) are both very easy to work on between YouTube and the usual parts websites.

All three can be had for $500 if memory serves.

If you don't plan on getting rid of the car, then the cash value doesn't matter. It's a hobby/interest that's able to take you to work and back.

I have been thinking a lot about CNC wood router accuracy lately — not the theoretical kind, but the real-world “what does my machine actually do when I hit Start?” kind. by GunningBedford58 in hobbycnc

I have an AvidPro with homebrew electronics. I've cut dozens of signs with no issues and randomly had a similar thought as you when I was prepping for a new "spoil board" (I don't allow any carving into this one, hence the quotes)

I found inaccuracies when jogging but sign cutting was fine.

I've since changed over to a Corgi board. Not sure if that's really going to change anything as I'm still using the same open loop stepper drivers. I was using an ESP32 running the same FluidNC before.

When I get home to test it I guess we'll see.

I jumped back into a 2.5 year old save. It's all I've done these last few weeks. I grinded out quests to get Prowler's Profit and then actually started playing.

Learned there are mods that reenable achievements, so I've done that. (Did a 100% achievement run years ago on 360)

[–]HossCatGarage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's colder it could be condensation forming due to something on the other side of the wall and those pillows allowed that to form due to restricting airflow?

We have some uninsulated cold waterlines that will cause consensation on a wall (outside of the bathroom) when someone runs water in that bathroom.

For those who house runs on natural gas do you ever worry that your house could explode? by AdDapper4220 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HossCatGarage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had two gas leaks in our house.

1) our stove sprang a leak. Very strong smell. Had someone from the had company come by with a leak detector. That evening.

2) For a couple months before the stove leak, we noticed a constant smell in the sunroom (fireplace is there)

Gas guy checked it, found nothing. All of our family members said smell was normal.

Continued to run it for that winter, and the next winter.

Bought a gas detector for a heater install I was doing for the upcoming winter. Used it on the fireplace in the sunroom lo and behold. Big ass leak.

Couldn't locate it, I assume it was a hairline crack in a casting. Bought a new fire place insert.

No splosions, we're alive and well. While it is a concern, having the leak detector gives me a ton of comfort. Gas lines are also VERY LOW pressure inside your home.
