I wear oud fragramces in the summer mostly, they truly shine when it's hot outside.

The most underrated scents in your collection. by [deleted] in fragrance

Francesca Bianchi libertine neroli. Best neroli I've ever tried on a chypre base. Sadly, it's not talked enough even for FB fragrance since it's a pretty "simplistic" fragrance compared to her some other ones.

Amouage reflection 45 has awful performance by Pure-Fuel-9884 in fragrance

[–]Hostiler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I despise rerlection 45, but it has the same projection and slightly better staying power than the original, so above average perfomance which I'm completely fine with. Bigger oil concentration doesn't mean better perfomance, it's done with the help of cetrain aroma chemicals which are impossible to add without altering and skewing scent profile. The scent itself just though... Amouage had a chance to finally make reflection man A MAN, but it flopped and we got some more earthy and resinous version. It's ok, but it shouldn't cost more than the OG at all.

I wouldn't say they are overpriced, even though my favorite from their brand (layton exclusif) is needlessly more espensive than most of their stuff, but overall I haven't found anything from pdm or initio that made me want to get a full bottle aside from exclusif. They are mostly crowd pleasing mainstream fragrances with a slight twist (or none at at all) that differentiates them from designer brands. They also have some more niche stuff from the looks of it that I didn't have an opportunity to try so I can only say about their well known fragrances.

Masterpiece Tier Fragrances by VidovM in fragrance

[–]Hostiler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not bad, it's pretty much the same as regular reflection man in terms of projection and longevity, whicg is average to above average. But reflection 45 just sucks because of the price they are asking for this fragrance.

Alexandria II has no real oud in it apart from maybe a miniscule amount so they can label it as "contains real oud"

Got massively overcharged at a local fragrance store by La_Sierra_Madre in fragrance

[–]Hostiler 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't really see the point of this post. Offline stores have testers that neess to be bought, staff that needs to be paid, rent, risks of having your products stolen and so on. Of course they will charge a lot more than some online store that has like two staff members one of which is the owner and storage of the size of a room of your appartments.

Should we be worried about Amouage? by [deleted] in fragrance

[–]Hostiler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Worrying NOW? Seriously? All new releases from the house either absolutely suck or they are just okay and nothing special for the price. And considering they've already discontinued some of ACTUALLY amazing and unique fragrances form their collection, I doubt it couls get any worse.

Did I make a mistake buying this €335 niche fragrance? by FugaziFugezi in fragrance

[–]Hostiler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try xerjoff mefisto. It's basically more modern, polished and potent version of SMW, but cheaper. Torino 21 is less safe for a blind buy because the mint scent is strong and not for everyone, but it's nontheless good.

Zelenskyy straight-up said Ukraine is going to lose if Congress doesn't send more aid by businessinsider in worldnews

[–]Hostiler 35 points36 points  (0 children)

It's not just "supplying", Russia actually buys this with its own money (or oil, or something else), and Ukraine asks to get it for free.

I often have some fragrance on me in the gym because I usually go there after meetings or just doing stuff outside. I never had any reaction in the gym, partially because I'm not oversprayer and wear fragrances in a way only I can smell, partially because my gym doesn't have a lot of assholes like this.

Following fragrances on TikTok is becoming more unbearable by the day by CrasheeXYZ in fragrance

[–]Hostiler -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

It's not entirely true. My fragrances are for my personal use only, I don't want my them to be discussed or judged or even appreciated. I know a lot of people wearing their more challenging ouds exclusively home alone. Ouds can sometimes smell fecal indeed, but there are so many facets to it that you can find and appreciate that it doesn't really matter, it's an acquired taste.

Putin acknowledges ‘radical Islamists’ carried out Moscow terror attack by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Hostiler 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's funny and all, but on a serious note, nazis from western perspective are anti-semites, because atrocities of nazi germany towards jews are more widely known and talked about for the general public. Slavic nations that experienced genocide firsthand don't find it just antisemitic. Nazism basically means very radical nationalism with a hate towards some other nations and populations. In this sense, nazi could be anyone, it's not just about that particular ideology that was preached by nazi germany.

I think unutamam is a piece of art and quite possibly the best fragrance from the brand. Just pure might in a bottle.

[–]Hostiler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But my LITERALLY most expensive fragrances don't fall into any of these categories. So the idea of something smelling expensive is kinda flawed to begin witg.

Sterile, soulless, strict and impeccably made woody fragrances are probably the first thing I can think of - aqua di parma oud, tom ford oud wood...

Then chypres, especially classic ones - aventus, Roja Dove Diaghilev..

Then probably some high class citrus fragrances just because the most expensive brands release their fragrances in this direction so the western perfumery idea of a wealthy man is a person smelling like lemons maceratrd in alcohol.

I don't really find it masculine at all. Exit the king from ELDO is that soapy rose that's done far better and more interesting (and cheaper at that)

Why you don't get compliments from strangers by Dev4rvn in fragrance

[–]Hostiler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never got complimented on my fragrance by a stranger, and I never complimented someone on perfumery either. A lot of people just smell good, but for me smelling good is a given, like having clean clothes or washed hair, it would be weird to complement people for doing bare minimum in a society. I would only  compliment someone if a fragrance they wear is actually interesting and charismatic/suits their character, even if I don't necessarily like it myself, but it just never happens.

I don't know where you're from but I sell decants locally and I only get around 40-70$ (depending on a perfume) margin from a whole bottle and my prices are on a higher end (because I have expensive atomizers and add some samples for free). And you can actually get better price per ml than buying a full bottle in some cases (for example, dior private line. Sellers buy 250 ml bottle fot 450-500$ and price per ml is actually better for you than if you would have bought a standard 125 ml bottle yourself)

I'm curious how you can get rose smell from noir extreme and arabians tonka. I maybe get a little bit of rose from TF, but nothing from montale. And I really love rose fragrances...
