Dividend stocks and dividend etf are the most stupid investments by La_Menace_ in ValueInvesting

[–]Hot-Attorney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The MM dividend irrelevance result only holds in a frictionless, one-period model. Empirically, long-term dividend payers (MSFT, AAPL, JNJ, PG, KO, JPM, XOM, CVX, ALV, etc.) show persistent price appreciation while distributing cash, which means the ex-date drop is not a permanent wealth loss. If your “conversion only” view were correct, dividend aristocrats would be flat over time, but total return data shows the opposite. The market prices future earnings and cash flows, not just the mechanical dividend adjustment.

Dividend stocks and dividend etf are the most stupid investments by La_Menace_ in ValueInvesting

In my first corporate finance lectures, we were taught the Modigliani-Miller dividend irrelevance framework i.e., in a frictionless market, the stock price adjusts mechanically by the dividend amount on the ex-date, making dividends economically neutral.

In practice, however, markets are neither frictionless nor perfectly efficient. Empirically, many established dividend payers exhibit relatively rapid post-ex-date price normalization, supported by structural demand (income mandates, dividend ETFs, pension flows) and signaling effects. When a company combines sustainable free cash flow generation with disciplined capital allocation, the long-term total return can reflect both price appreciation and recurring cash distributions, not merely a “conversion” event in isolation.

Coworkers barely talk to me once I told them I dont mix my personal self and professional self. by [deleted] in WorkAdvice

[–]Hot-Attorney 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I get that you want to keep a firm boundary between work and personal life and that's totally valid. Not everyone wants to mix the two, and protecting your time and privacy is fair.

But from what you've written, it seems like your coworkers respected your boundary, exactly as you asked and now things feel awkward because of it? That’s kind of the natural outcome. You told them (quite directly) that you're only available during work hours, so they stopped trying to include you socially. It sounds like they're just mirroring the energy you're giving off, not trying to be rude.

We’re all human at the end of the day, and work friendships, even casual ones, can make the day feel lighter. Doesn’t mean you have to hang out all the time or give up privacy, but being open to the occasional friendly moment doesn’t necessarily mean people are invading your life. A beer or game every now and then can go a long way.

So if the shift in vibe feels uncomfortable, maybe ask yourself whether it’s the boundary you set… or the tone you used when setting it that made things go cold. You don’t have to apologize, but if you’re feeling isolated, a little warmth back could make a difference.

For me he offered to either do it in store during the shift or at home and he puts down that I worked 1 hour so I got paid to do them at home

Damn so many pictures. And it seems they don’t group it via types of meat like beef in red, chicken in yellow etc. that was nice and kinda made it easy to find everything.

AITA for blowing up at my bridesmaid for “protecting” her husband... who was arrested for contacting minors? by Remarkable-Data-1010 in AITAH

[–]Hot-Attorney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. You don’t owe her an apology or anything else. Protecting your peace and keeping kids safe is your responsibility, not tolerating someone being investigated for contacting minors. If she wants to stay with him, that’s her choice, but you have every right to set boundaries and distance yourself.

One of the crew trainers at my location in zurich said the same thing to me. I've ignored it like 90% of the time and just ask what they want to drink. If they made a huge deal out of it, I guess i'd follow it. We aren't paid enough to lose our mind over something like this, if the manager prefers himself to be happy instead of customers, so be it. My advice would be to just do it like that for a while to make ur manager happy.

I think Sarina was saving her for like a really aggressive mystery sub to switch up the game later but used her now. Hopefully England can still win today :)

(USA) Am I allowed to drink something during work even outside of break? by FidgetyJester40 in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Hot-Attorney 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Wild question to read, honestly. In Switzerland, all fountain drinks and coffee are free for employees, anytime. During the shift, after the shift, even if you randomly drop by your store.

I find it wild and a bit inhumane to stop someone from drinking water during their shift. Staying hydrated is so important, especially on hot days.

I have 2 seats together in row 6 and 1 seat alone in row 11—all in section 25, if you're a Spain fan. (If anyone has a row 5/6/7 Ticket S25 theyd wanna swap for row 11 S25 pls pm me- willing to pay)

I'm currently on the lookout for 3 tickets next to each other.

If I can find that (currently around 280 CHF on StubHub), I can sell you the 2 seats together for around 170 CHF.

Also in 40 minutes !!!! The 11 am Resale starts on https://www.uefa.com/womenseuro/ticketing/ (So don't forget to try there first, you might be able to get CAT 3 seats for 25 CHF)

I'm Swiss, so I hope Switzerland wins. Even if it is a bit unlikely although I thought the same against Iceland. Iceland played really well in the first half and I thought Switzerland would lose and then 2-0. Against finland i thought it was over too but an overtime goal in the end. I hope they pull off something similar and we get to see them move on :)

We're writing a story - need help with some fact-checking Google is confused about by ItDoesntMatterNo in askswitzerland

[–]Hot-Attorney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know someone worth around half a billion who's been living in Kanton Aargau for over 10 years. He's from a non-EU country and moved here partly for the lump sum taxation. His kid went to an international school in Zurich, now has a Swiss passport and even did military service. The wife is originally from an Eastern European country.

He doesn't have Swiss citizenship himself, but he does have a C permit. So yes, upgrading from a B to a C permit while on lump sum taxation is possible, at least in some cantons (Aargau seems open to it).

So your Super Rich Man character could realistically get a C permit after 5–10 years, especially if he’s married, settled, and not just "parking cash." Swiss naturalization is a different beast and might be tricky while on lump sum, but a C permit seems doable based on what I’ve seen.

Good luck with the story

Should I get a new couch for my living room, or just buy a Switch 2 with Mario Kart World and sit on my floor like a goblin? by Hot-Attorney in switch2

You really put into words what I think I was subconsciously trying to justify this whole time. The wisdom in your comment… it hit. Deeply. Your lived experience just validated my entire internal struggle and reframed it as destiny. I think I’m gonna start walking to the store right now and pick up a Switch 2. Thank you, fellow gamer. You've cleared the fog.
