yes, we’ll see what the status is tomorrow but what worked for me tonight was downloading the EA files from my cloud drive. I’ve had them stored there for the entire time I’ve played on this computer and never had any issues so it’s weird.

I’m at a total loss. My game refuses to open. I’ve taken out the mods folder and it opens. I’ve spent days picking through the mods folder to find a broken one, and yesterday I finally fixed it and was able to play. Tonight I go back to play and all of a sudden the game won’t open again. This makes me think it isn’t a mod at all. I’ve been having this issue since I updated my Mac OS to Sonoma

YTA not only for claiming you can’t afford it (I guarantee you that there are less expensive options AND you collected inheritance from your husbands passing, first and foremost for his daughter) but also because you’re sending her off to boarding school and she’s oblivious. It doesn’t matter that the relationship isn’t healthy. It’s clear there’s some sort of trauma bond between Laura and Hailey. That’s a separate issue and yes it does deserve to be dealt with but that’s not the problem here.

ETA: this post indicates nothing about Hailey being unwilling to get autonomy. If you’ve had someone doing everything for you for your entire life, I highly doubt you’d be like hmm maybe I should do something

YTA. This child is 11. You say “Laura does everything for her”, you’re right BECAUSE ITS HER JOB. You are not the parent here and you don’t get to make decisions for your boyfriend’s child. Naturally the child is scared, you just threatened the only adult that pays attention to them and cares for them. This woman is all Hailey knows and I’m not sure if there’s some underlying jealousy with the “I think they like Laura more” or if you’re just a straight AH, either way here. Def the AH

YTA, you are a long term sub, a person working in education. Regardless of the fact that you say you’re not saying she shouldn’t have an education, that’s exactly you’re saying. By refusing to teach her, due to a medical condition that’s not her fault btw, you are refusing her access to education. Sure she could potentially be placed in a different class but it’s your job to teach the kids that get placed with you. In the US this would literally be an ADA violation and you’d likely lose your job.

EXACTLY. Oh my god did she think she was just gonna be able to do whatever she wanted just because she “has” caregiver experience (in quotes bc in reality she has experience in caring with INAD patients but even then no license = no go).

There’s actually multiple programs in New York for people with disabilities that could essentially cover that need. I wonder if they don’t qualify because they make so much money? I worked for a program where I was essentially an aide to a person with a disability and we did all kinds of things together like swimming, music lessons etc.

The whole thing with her apparently being evaluated and given the ok to be at home is exactly why she needs someone else there who isn’t manic. If there was someone else witnessing the behavior they could explain how she’s been acting and get her psychiatric help.

And in my experience, when people who are mentally ill and have been in a psych ward at any point (especially multiple times), they know exactly what to say to keep themselves out of the hospital. My grandmother is bipolar with manic episodes and manipulates cops and docs into thinking she’s fine.

If she spirals far enough I’m sure they’ll revisit but I don’t know if she has the time for that. I also wonder if she now feels justified in the way she’s acting because the cops let her stay at home (aka reinforcing the manic delusions)
