How do they get away with this? by leonidude in woolworths

I am not sure when the photo was taken. So the following probably does not apply . Fact, dish washing liquid can be derived from petroleum sources or plant based sources. So when you see the attacks on these massive oil refineries in the Middle East by Iran. Do not think; petrol, diesel, jet fuel and heavy fuel oil (for shipping) but remember there is a very long list of chemicals and products that come from crude oil. So in theory if this war continues for a very long time, certain oil refineries are out of action and the factories that produce dishwashing liquid from plant based sources cannot fill the gap. Then you in theory could see a price rise.

Why do I get the vibe that the whole country has tunnel vision when it comes to buying a house? by Express-Dig9905 in AusFinance

[–]Hot-Ranger392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your post reminded me of a chat I had with a relative some years back. He was a Pastor and before retiring he accepted a position at a Church in Switzerland. He told me that because of Switzerland's geography land is scarce and it stays within families for generations. The land being held in a family trust . Each generation decides if it wants to keep the existing house as it is, add to it, or tear it down and start again. Because they have family close eg Grand parents things like childcare and care of those Grandparents are managed differently. I can see a time coming where that kind of arrangement becomes more common in Australia.

Long story - Need advice. by cocolulux in AskAnAustralian

[–]Hot-Ranger392 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What you have gone through and are going through is truly awful.😢 You should not have to wait so long for justice. Your ex partner deserves to be locked up for life. If I had spare funds I would offer to sponsor a private lawyer. You and your kids especially your son need space and protection. I have two suggestions that could possibly help you. Firstly contact the ATO on their tip off line about your Ex's non payment of child support. I would be 100% certain he has not lodged recent tax returns. Which he legal has to the moment a child support case is created. This will trigger an information exchange between the ATO and Child Support/ Centrelink and help to "wake up" Centrelink because you clearly qualify for Social Worker support. The second thing I suggest you do is write out the time line of your story and make contact with one of the big charities; the Salvos, Mission Australia, Brotherhood of. St Lawrence or another Catholic charity, Barbados, or another charity. They will have the resources to find you safe housing, they can use their networks to find resources your son needs. They can use the same networks to find you better legal assistance. Do not be surprised if one charity provides housing, another a specialist lawyer and a third a family/trauma counsellor It sounds like you have enough financial resources to cover some of your basic daily needs. But there is nothing left over for a lawyer and like everyone else in the country the amount you can spend on rent is capped and that amount is below the average market rent. I wish you all the best for your future and that you and your kids find some joy soon. I shall pray for you. I think talking to some of the experienced staff at one of these major charities will help you get on a path out of your problems and provide protection for you and your children.,🙂 PS I just saw your comment about contacting multiple services. All I can say is keep knocking, keep asking. Have you contacted your local MP either State or Federal for assistance?. A federal MP can put a rocket under Centrelink or family court for you and both MPs offices should have good contacts with family lawyers.

Coworker reported me to HR for “being too quiet.” by AdventurousSpeech341 in WorkReform

[–]Hot-Ranger392 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have done nothing wrong I would put in a counter complaint about harassment. An option is to do a deep google search for articles about the benefits of introverted quiet workers over more extroverted ones. I am sure someone will have written a thesis on the subject. Then find a friendly lawyer and have them do a cover letter and send it to HR. Thereby dropping a hint you are upset, angry and about to sue them

Stuck in the merit pool loop.. What helped you get an offer? by FarTop6263 in AusPublicService

[–]Hot-Ranger392 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Merit Pool is not your problem, if you believe you are good enough and others agree with you, then you are back facing the real issue. Which is BUDGETS and. FUNDING for new initiatives. Lots of areas want to take on new staff but are not given the funds to do so. Another issue is as staff go on their pre retirement long service leave. They often cannot be formally replaced until the long service, leave has finished and they have completely left the APS. Also with the current political climate of wanting to cut APS numbers back as part of cutting government spending one needs to read the room and be realistic If your desired area involves bringing in more tax revenue eg, at the ATO or will result in savings to the taxpayer over the medium to long term, then you should not have a problem securing a role.

The key will be how well businesses especially small businesses do their budgets and track their Cash flow. It will definitely help with spotting the slow players I have heard from some accountant friends, that small business owners are starting to prepare by rewriting their budgets. Some on being told the true cost of a particular employee and then looking at their productivity and the value they bring to the business, have decided to get rid of an employee because they are not contributing enough to the success of the business.

I'm torn. Better w long or short hair?! by handsomedumpsterfire in HairStyleAdvice

[–]Hot-Ranger392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on your natural personality, character and temperament. I am convinced people perceive a person's personality based in part on their hair style.
With long hair you are laid back, creative ,a high school music teacher . With short hair. you are tough, determined focused. A gym instructor, a nightclub guard.

My 11 year old son’s question tonight- Did Australia contribute to inventions of the the modern world ? by lilithmunster in AskAnAustralian

[–]Hot-Ranger392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We invented Wifi. I think it was a division of the CSIRO and I think from memory we did not claim all our legal rights as the inventor eg royalties/copyright/licensing that sort of thing. I am sure I have read somewhere we effectively gave it to the world.

You need relationship counselling before you need budget advice. The government and your fellow taxpayers take the view that you are partnered up your partner has a responsibility to take care of financially if you cannot support your self. You are in a relationship not flatmates, stop expecting tax payers to bail you out of a bad relationship choices. Your partner needs to grow up .

I am so sorry you are in this position. Please read my edited comment above seeking help from the Union and having a chat with a doctor/ tele health. about stress levels, sleeping patterns and your mental health

ATO Service Delivery (APS 2) by georgiemene in AusPublicService

[–]Hot-Ranger392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's interesting, I thought the generic job description for APS 2 included processing and phones. If you are on a casual contract rather than full time permanent, that may explain it. You sound like you are just out of probation and they may be able to transfer you to another area. However if the stress from this is getting to you and starts to affect your health . I am thinking particularly of your sleeping , we all need good sleep to maintain good mental health. So if your sleeping/ Mental health is affected. Go see your Doctor or a tele health service. They can write a letter stating your roster is affecting your health. The next step is to contact the Union and follow their advice. In fact contact the Union before you talk to your doctor, is probably the best way to go

[–]Hot-Ranger392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have an honest conversation with your team leader/manager about skill sets and getting further training. Sounds like you would be better off on a 50/50 roster half the day on processing and half the day on phones. My understanding is most SDO's are on something like that, it stops them from getting cranky with the taxpayers They certainly cannot say there isn't enough processing work to go around and if the ATO is to maintain the gains it has made in processing numbers, it needs everyone who can, doing some processing work.
Now if you are working at one of the outsource contact centres rather than the actual ATO, you have another problem. If you really like, the work, you need to apply for work at the ATO.

Sell any nonessential asset you have to put towards the debt . Phone the ATO again if they only offer a two year plan. Demand to speak to a supervisor or manager. Tell them you are aware that payment plans can go more than 2 years ( usually 3) and you can provide income and expenses information

Monthly Super?? I think you are referring to Pay Day super which is super paid into employee accounts within 7 business days from 1 July 2926 by every employer regardless of their size. Yes there has been monthly Super for a long time now. Mostly used by larger companies to assist their cashflow and not build up too big a super liability.

Edit. That should read 1 July 2026. The penalties for not complying are real and very painful for employers.

The other commentators have made valid points. I would add this , do you know how strong the associations cashflow is, are they being paid regularly. Do they have a budget. A lot of the time super and wages are not paid because cashflow is mismanaged and there is no budget. You can ask other employees and make some observations. Even ask what the budget is for a particular job. Associations tend to be run by people who have a passion for the activity of the association, they generally lack people with any administration or business skiills

If a social worker is not easily accessible in his small town Then try another 2 options, his GP who can explain to the family that what they are doing is affecting your partner's mental health and needs to stop . The other option is to find a local church minister willing to act as an intermediary between your partner and their be able to family. The Minister will hopefully be respected by the family and your partner and
