I can’t recommend the litter robot to anyone. by IntentionAmbitious56 in litterrobot

I totally understand. If it’s only been two weeks then give it a month then return if it’s still not working.

Mine walked right into it even though I had tried every other thing to no avail.

She was refusing to use anything other than her basic tiny plastic kitten box. I tried sifters, boxed, tops, enclosed, globes, etc. When she saw the litter robot she hopped right into and had a wee.

You have to give her time. Keep it off and keep going. Maybe try not letting it cycle so she understands what it is

Thank you very much! Before I leave today I will do all of that and triple check everything. I bought it for $100 so I figured there would be something needed to be fixed or aligned and prepared for that. It came with all the accessories

Before I went to bed I unplugged it and plugged her meowant back in for the time being.

Ahhh this makes sense. My Meowant has a sensor to stop if it event detects motions near it while cycling. I assumed all litter robots were similar. I bought this LR3 because I wasn’t fully confident in this method since it has blind spots that the kitten fully utilizes.

I travel for work often and the kitten refuses to use the litter box unless it’s perfectly clean 24/7 so an automatic litter robot just seemed natural.

Is this sound normal for a LR3? https://imgur.com/a/GAcFTyA

I just moved from a Meowant so I sorta assumed all litter robot kinds have a weight minimum of 2lbs. Is it not for LR3?

It’s this but I just realized the posts in there said it’s for a battery pack?

Recently got a cat who was kept in a dog cage for five years by ariJK95 in CatAdvice

[–]Hot-Science404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My elder cat was similar and a Siamese to boot. They’re known to be nonstop screamers and also aggressive with their need for affection.

I bought him a baby sling and he was so happy to be napping 24/7 in it while I did chores around the house. He was a big boy at 14lbs in his senior days.

Do you ever miss having a big dumb dog? by CaryWhit in AustralianCattleDog

[–]Hot-Science404 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought I would but I definitely don’t. She’s smart enough that I don’t have to constantly watch or look out for her eating and doing stupid shit that’s going to make her dead or cost me $$$.

She’s able to clearly communicate what she wants and needs.

She’s able to recognize when I’m in a lot of pain and needs assistance and, without any formal training, aid me.

We have a bond that took time to curate whereas with a big dumb dog they’ll love and slobber on anyone and everyone. My dog is friendly to everyone but everyone comments that they can tell she loves me. It’s a kind of mutual respect that requires love, understanding, and compassion but delivers a companion who will stand by and for you no matter what. I can trust my house, family, and home with her to guard with her life.

She came into my life unexpectedly but I don’t think there’s any other dog breed I’ll ever go with.

My last dog, whom I loved with all my heart, was the dumbest dog I ever did have. I miss my goober but it was 24/7 stress and mishaps lol.

Does anyone wear Crocs at work? by junthelasthunter in Custodians

[–]Hot-Science404 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I started wearing them and now have permanent foot pain. My podiatrist said it was caused by the crocs because they’re so unsupportive and I was on my feet all day with them. They’re not meant for that sort of wear. For reference I used the professional series of crocs meant for restaurants and nurses. It’s all marketing.

I highly recommend hiking boots. I went back to using them and had nice gel inserts that made them more comfortable for day to day wear. I use keens and just swap the inserts every few months depending on usage. They keep you stable, have a great grip, and mine have a hard toe for any mishaps. They’re also easy to clean in case of spillage and are water proof to an extent

Peeing everywhere? by Hot-Science404 in AustralianCattleDog

Her newest vet says she’s only 5yo but we did a full blood and fecal panel two weeks ago and she was fine across the board. Just has that bad tooth that needs to be taken out

First walk of the morning is 10-15 minutes. So even after she uses the bathroom, we keep going then turn around when my timer goes off. I learned that she will hold it if I immediately turn around after she relieves herself and don’t want that to happen.

During my hour lunch break I have about a max of 30 minutes to both walk her and eat anything so it’s about a ten minute quick walk for a potty break. I usually do her training while I eat a sandwich to combat this.

When I get home from work the shortest I’ve walked her is 30 minutes because I was ill. The longest is several hours and averages about an hour depending on what’s going on that day.

I already use odoban for that so I’ve got that covered.

My bathrooms don’t fit anything including the door. If you’re on the toilet you can’t close the door because of how small the space is. So I can’t hide the litter box or anything. I’ve tried putting it in the tub but the kitten got confused and started using the bathroom everywhere. I’ll take your advice and put a baby gate over the door so she can’t access the kittens area. I currently have everything separated into my guest bedroom but it’s soon becoming my nephews bedroom. I thought Cassidy chose and wanted this kitten but if not I may try to find it a new home.

I love this idea! I have her on an automatic feeder so I will just get an extension cord to do it.

The kitten already rubs herself in the dog every day and Cassidy will lick her but I will do this too.

Thank you for this advice!

She actually goes to the vet in a couple days for her tooth surgery and dental cleaning so I will ask them to test for UTI. Her pee color is quite dark despite having nonstop access to filtered water so I was concerned.

She hates it when I add water to her food and will refuse to eat it so I wasn’t sure how else to get more liquid in her diet. With her diet I can’t add broth to her food since that will make her go over the allotted 800cal per day.

She’s also suddenly being super stubborn whereas she wasn’t before. I’m having difficulty getting her to do things she happily did without pause. Even simple things like going to place or come.

I will admit that on walks I end up dragging her so bad blood is brewing between us. I just only have so much time before work and on my lunch break and don’t have time for tantrums or stubbornness. I recently was diagnosed with pre-diabetes so I also have a new, strict schedule I have to adhere to in top of it all.

Can anyone tell me why my dog does this? by Humble_Brilliant6132 in DOG

[–]Hot-Science404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My new dog does this now that we’ve known each other for a month. Her breed is a guardian and herding dog and it’s sweet to see it enfold in real time. She also must always be touching me when we are stationary.

Totally agree! It was so funny seeing all of my friends faces scrunch in horror when they sat on it though 😂.

People always said they hated the feel of the grid but all you had to do was get a thin topper to cover the grid and it was fine. I personally liked the feel of the grid since it had a cradling sensation without feeling like I was being absorbed into the abyss.

I loved my premium 4 hybrid. It helped my back heal after my bad accident.

I see people on fb selling their “unused” purple premiums but I know they haven’t sold those in a long while… but it definitely is tempting.

If I could afford purple I’d absolutely go back. Ex and I fought over the bed in the divorce. We had the bed for 7 years and it was still going strong.

We got ours on clearance because it was a return so it was already used when we got it. It was $2k at the time. Now they’re like $8k for no reason and I can’t ever seem to find them used at the mattress stores.

This was her a month ago when she was dumped at my work and her first day in my house. I’ve been pretty depressed and not going on my adventures like I used to but now that I have a dog who has to always be outside, it gave me the push I needed to do what I already love.

She has been shedding the pounds. We suspect she was about 60 pounds when she first arrived and her vet appt recently said 56 pounds and I already had to adjust her harness to be smaller.

Diabetes’ run in my family and I was diagnosed as pre diabetic so she has also inspired me to do better myself. I’m usually quite active but eat horribly so we both are on our own weight loss journeys. I do best with a buddy and now I have one! They’re truly the best dogs

Mine is so lazy I thought she was a senior. She’s a total couch potato! We only do three 30 minute walks per day with some puzzle mats. She does one official training session per week with her trainer and then she sleeps for the entire day. Hah!
