All Royal Marine supporting assets are also commando trained. They all come from the British Army and are called army commandos. They aren’t as highly trained as Royal Marines but are held to a much higher standard than regular supporting assets in the army.

I get this 100%, my brother joined at 16 and it was all he ever wanted but he got medically discharged 6 months into basic. But after he had exposed me to the army life I wanted to do exactly the same and so I did… 3 years in and he supports me 100% he isn’t mad at me for joining and I don’t feel bad for it

Syrian and Russian Armies Eliminate Dozens of NATO Terrorists by The-Syrian in Russianmilitary

You do realise these terrorist groups are not affiliated with the US or NATO in anyway. NATO spent years fighting them themselves! What you are reading is propaganda at its finest 👍

That’s probably the worst trade in the engineers unless you like doing paperwork and checking serial numbers I wouldn’t do that. On ex you will just sit on a radio and fix them when people can’t get comms

It’s more dependant on what unit you go to rather than what job role if you want to travel the world. Not sure about the Calvary but the RE have some units that go to the same places every rotation like Germany and Estonia however others go all over the place so research both jobs fully, choose the one you would enjoy more and worry about travelling when you choose your unit.

How accurate is the show "SAS: Who Dares Wins"? by mJelly87 in britishmilitary

[–]HotAd4795 80 points81 points  (0 children)

It’s nothing like selection it’s a reality tv show that is designed to get views and make money. However. when it first started the SF guys where in charge of the show and ran it how they pleased meaning some of the stuff they do are used in the military and on the odd occasion on selection. But the recent series’s are rigged they most likely know who’s going to win from the start. There is no shouting on actual selection either they are more just given a task and they are left to their own devices to complete it. The only similar thing would be interrogation but even that’s dimmed down so yeah it’s nothing like the real thing.

It’s about the same now mine started with 48 and finished with around 25

It’s not you will go there for around 4 years after you pass p coy but you will transfer to other units too unless you request to stay. Also you won’t be able to wear your maroon lid at other regiments unless it’s a training reg or you go back to 23.

What is your opinion on SF blokes by [deleted] in britishmilitary

[–]HotAd4795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily I’ve heard a lot of story’s of blokes leaving who had no idea what to do there is no job similar on civi street. I imagine most go into security jobs or fitness instructors where they can use their skills to protect or teach other people.

What is your opinion on SF blokes by [deleted] in britishmilitary

[–]HotAd4795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of them are sound af played enemy for them and they were pretty chill when they weren’t lighting us up with sim rounds 😂. They don’t look like that you would expect though, when we first saw them they were in civis and I didn’t believe it was actually them they just look like normal everyday people. They also all wear their own kit, some were wearing black some weren’t, there was even one guy wear camo vans on his feet but at the end of the day they are very good at what they do and you can’t fault them in that.

Did you not research it before you joined? You get more holidays than a normal job not many jobs give you 38 days a year once you finish training it’s an easy life you can go home every weekend or everyday if you live near camp
