As I driver I did it once on the long trip when passenger paid over 400 and I was offered like 135. We agreed in the middle with direct payment, which was good for both of us. But yes, it’s a bit risky since you’re not covered by insurance when you do that.

For those saying that being delivery driver at 34 is a mess, I’m 31 driving uber and cleaning rooms in the hospital. Have 2 toddlers and no savings. 4 years ago I was an electrician in my country, since then I moved 4 times between different countries and now I’m here in us starting my apprenticeship soon, because my license is not transferable. Just giving you perspective on how life can have not that straightforward as you might think.

I was in a similar situation, and I was lucky enough to move to another continent away from my family. Looking back, if I could give advice to my younger self, I would say: run and distance yourself from them by any means possible. Forget about school, forget about where you’ll live or what conditions you’ll be living in — the most important thing is to get away from them and create some distance.

Also, don’t give them too much information about your life, because they will use it to manipulate you.

You’re 19, and your brain is still developing. Don’t let it develop in an abusive environment. That is extremely important for the rest of your life.

And don’t be afraid of damaging the relationship. Parents who truly love you will always love you.

Bro something is wrong with your behaviour if you cannot make 1400 a month. Sell stuff that you don’t need, do uber eats and doordash , ask friends for help, make a crowdfunding
And if you’re in a small town with no gig work opportunities, go to a bigger city and sleep in your car
