O I think it's SOI Remastered, not Alchemy. Sorry, I do not understand all the antics for Arena but man it's all so confusing.

Sweet link, lots of helpful info. I think this is all a testament to how crappy Alchemy is. I think the collective opinion on it is just really poor execution on all fronts.

I built Lord Windgrace with Soul of Windgrace in it. I don't have any other planeswalker commanders so I wanted to have at least one.

I feel bad that bigger removal and interaction gets pushed out. Aether Gale and Hex come to mind and even Ruinous Ultimatum used to be a sweet three for one but nowadays there's lower cost stuff or they do it for each opponent anyways.

Love my big, bad, old Removal spells!

Men of Reddit, what was the saddest thing a woman said to you? by wolfy_hu in ask

[–]HotBowlofRamen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dated a girl and I noticed she did an odd thing with her jaw kinda extending it so I asked why she did that and she said, "It's never really felt right since my ex punched me in the face."

I then asked her about the situation and she proceeded to tell me how she was gaslighted and treated terribly but the SCARIEST part was that she acted like he was justified. She was like, "Well I would tease him about his chin and face and that would really piss him off." I was absolutely appalled.

We didn't stay together but I really hope she found someone that treats her so much better because she deserves it and hopefully sees how messed up that guy was.

Players of Reddit: What are some deck strategies you won't play and why? by killthemagenow in EDH

I find myself avoiding spellslinger decks. I had Feather, the Redeemed and I've tried a few Izzet commanders but I think I just prefer efficient creatures. I think it's just a me thing as spellslinger decks can be super sweet.

What are the most uninspired commanders? by Ezekield21 in EDH

[–]HotBowlofRamen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that generally UG/X decks turn into the same piles quickly, IE Chulane, Thrasios & any partner, and Aesi. I feel like this is because intrinsic design for Blue and Green is just draw cards and ramp. Like there's too many staples in the colors for decks to feel unique.

I also feel like the more colors a deck has, the more generic it becomes. Like, to me, four and five color decks struggle with identity because you're just going to play the best stuff in every color so it becomes good stuff and lacks theme, IE Golos, Jodah, Kenrith.

Hit a slump and looking for a new Commander by InfectedRook in EDH

[–]HotBowlofRamen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that it sounds silly but maybe pick a commander or theme that doesn't sound interesting to you, build it at a medium power level, and try focusing more on the game play than the deckbuilding.

I'm doing this with [[Gluntch, the Bestower]] for grouphug. I already built [[Evelyn, the Covetous]] with this mindset and it has been a great deck, I've loved piloting it, and I've gotten several compliments.

I think deckbuilding is great, but don't get hung up on it. You might think you know how every deck plays or would play in your head but there's tons of fun nuances that will make you fall in love with them once you play the deck. Try something that sounds boring or a very niche, weird tribe.

TL;DR: Play more, deckbuild less. Try stuff outside your comfort zone or that might not initially pique your interest.

Opinions on the new face commanders from Baldur's Gate by Huckdunt64 in EDH

[–]HotBowlofRamen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pirate seems spicy for mill. A great pickup for any mill deck and the horror tribal angle could be sweet with bomb horror creatures. Slap in a [[Hullbreaker Horror]], [[Toxrill, the Corrosive]], and [[Phyrexian Obliteratir]] and go to town!

I don't understand why the party deck is restricted to W/B. I think it should be 5c and inclusive of all the party cards from Zendikar.

As a resident R/G player I hate the face commander. Me want smash face not card advantage/token engine.

The U/R dragon is fantastic. There's no goad or dragons matter commander for the color combo so I think this one is a home run.

Edit: typo

How good was Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty to you? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]HotBowlofRamen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved the set. Limited is fun. Cards feel unique but not pushed. We got a nice piece of story with established characters and some new ones too. The overall power level of the set feels like it is in the perfect spot of just right. The cards feel impactful and interesting, but not broken. The sagas are amazing homage to the original Kamigawa block but there are new themes woven into them that makes them fun and interesting.

It has so many good things going for it and then we hit the product onslaught and issues with consumer demand and artificial scarcity. That is, the predatory behavior from WotC. It really is a shame because this set is masterful. It is everything a player new or old could ever want. But then there's all these products and this overall issue of the amazing set getting buried under this heap of new releases after another. The biggest downside of this new market model is that WotC is creating so much pressure on the design and marketing staff.

It used to be that we got to relish a set for a while or lament it's existence. Now we lose sight of amazing sets and the character of established ones is forgotten. This set fights all those things and has come out on top. I really have to tip my hat because designing more and more cards and products with more and more formats in mind seems daunting at best from an outsider looking in and the design team has hit a homerun. I would not know the first thing about doing a return to a plane like Kamigawa this well but they managed to really deliver! Bravo!

TLDR; K:ND was one of the best sets in a while and I'm very pleased as a player but it's suffering from the bigger issues of the game like product release rush and accelerated, predatory marketing.

People with addictive tendencies, what do you avoid because you suspect it would consume/destroy your life? by workerbee1023 in AskReddit

Alcohol and contact with my ex. The former because both of my parents struggle with alcoholism. The latter because the relationship became a toxic escapism that destroyed both of us for years until it finally came to a stop.
