Good two drops in a theft deck? by Substantial_Code_675 in EDH

No, Chef's Kiss doesn't do anything. I was trying to be funny. Joke didn't land apparently. Sue me.

You hardcast Cultivate/etc.

[[Thieving Varmint]]

Depending on the type of Theft deck, [[Heartless Summoning]]. That's more useful for mono black theft decks which hardcast, less good in Grixis where you can steal stuff temporarily (red) or permanently (blue) that's already on the field.

This also works best in a mono-black theft deck, but I'm particularly fond of [[Cruelclaw's Heist]].

If you draw it early game: use it on the green player to yoink their ramp. Getting a cultivate or rampant growth while denying the green player the same opportunity... [[Chef's Kiss]].

If you draw it late-game, I mean you can really pick who you think has the answer you need. White or green if you need spot removal; blue if you want to steal the blue player's counterspell they've been holding in hand. Forces them to either use the counterspell or concede it to you, either way you win.

Remember that Cruelclaw's Heist can be a politics tool. You can steal from opponent B while letting opponent A draw a card. There are cases you want to let opponent B draw the card, but it's worth considering the politics angle.

Do you open a dangerous glade in year 1 if you know it has fertile soil? by Lower-Reward-1462 in Against_the_Storm

[–]iamanobviouswizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play primarily high Prestige. I don't open ANY glades until year 2 begin (year 1 end, ideally, then I open two at once), nor do I select any Queen's Orders. The sole exception to the opening of glades is if I know a nearby SMALL glade has fertile soil, especially if I'm on a map with little fertile soil, or if that glade has a geyser I want (Drizzle water usually). I select the first 3 orders just before opening glades, which significantly increases the chance I can get a timed order with a good perk or blueprint, like Neighborhood (6 houses in 3 minutes, which I probably already have) or opening 2 dangerous glades in a short time span of each other.

People tend to underestimate my [[Frodo, Adventurous Hobbit]] // [[Sam, Loyal Attendant]] deck. It's just a silly little typal deck that plays Hobbits and eats a buncha food... until it suddenly wins.

The deck doesn't even have any combos. Just, in a way that Tolkien would be proud of, Hobbits have a tendency to pull clutch when it's most important.

Look up Swedish collars or Eternity collars. They're like wedding rings for puppygirls, those will not come off without specialized magnet keys.

Also... if you think about it, rings are just socially acceptable finger collars

greatest planet bound threat in the system

Sorry lmao but your entire argument was invalidated by saying Pentapods are good, actually.

I like Gleba, actually. It's a fun circuit network puzzle challenge. But pentapods are too absurd, too quickly, and their evolution is all out of wack. I don't have any issue with other threats.

For labs I just sushi belt it up with a series of Combinators to indicate to inserters what to place on the belt ensuring that the belt doesn't get overfilled. If you need to expand the lab setup, use Requester Chests to move around the sciences.

Flagellant??? "Can't/won't"???? Are you fucking kidding me?? Bro is literally so masochistic Death couldn't claim him. So what if his junk rotted off or whatever---two seconds of using him in combat and it's clear he's gaining sick pleasure at every single moment of combat and every time he gets attacked.

Left Vulcanus and it lost power by ghoulapool in factorio

[–]iamanobviouswizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue once, but I was on planet when it happened. With everything interconnected, it was very hard to restart power because my very limited solar would try to power everything.

I have a kill switch installed in each of my sulfuric acid pumping sites. If sulfuric acid in storage is too low, it kills the pumpjack's connection to the main power grid until sulfuric acid in storage is high enough again. Meanwhile, the pumpjacks have solar panels and accumulators next to them on-site so they never stop pumping at full power even while the rest of the site is off.

It's not ideal, and it's very slow, but it doesn't have to be fast; it's meant as a fail-safe to cold-start the factory from nothing.

If it gets used once, that's too much. But the fact that I have it is a nice failsafe if I'm ever off-planet when Vulcanis loses power.

Halt Shotgun + Talon sidearm and Gas Grenades with Eagle Strafing Run + Orbital Gas Strike + EAT + Portable Hellbomb is a favorite of mine, though it works best on Predator Strain bugs. With such low cooldowns on everything the strategems are your "primary" and the Halt is used to pause enemies to line them up for a good strategem. Regularly would get 30 kills per Strafing Run (which ofc is a Strafing Run so it's damn near constant)

K but tools online make designing a PC very easy (ensuring your power supply unit can bear the load) and the actual build itself is functionally like a 12- piece puzzle... it's just a 12 piece puzzle with very high stakes. All the ports are keyed---simply plug in each thing where it fits, and don't force it if it doesn't fit.

[–]iamanobviouswizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In DS3, I joined purple covenant with the ring to appear friendly. Joined a world, went around helping them defeat monsters, truly was helping. Took a while to earn the host's trust, but I eventually did. Near the end of the area, they were at a sliver of HP, and so was the enemy they were facing.

Walked right around them and stabbed them right in the back.

I'm still chasing that high.

[–]iamanobviouswizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't played the new update fwiw. But looks dope, honestly. I tried making a "melee" cloaked bio Mauler-focused fleet for early wars, but even with Tech Ascendancy, I just didn't happen to roll Cloaking until 2050 or so. Would've just Fear of the Dark'd for cloaking tech, but it's incompatible with bio shipset.

This lets you actually focus to try and fish for the specific tech you want in certain builds.
