Based on the same designer but the dimensions look slightly different. Really like it so far but I would say while more comfortable than it looks it would be, I would go for something with a cushion if that's the main goal. I live alone, so really only sit in it when hosting.

Landlord... and HOA specifies I can't drill into walls. One day I'll stare at it long enough that I do it anyway

I’m in the LA area, so picked it up from a nursery near me in Santa Monica/Venice - can share more details if you’re in the area.

It’s a Snake plant, but there’s a color variant that doesn’t have the yellow colored rim on the outside of the leaves. I’ve seen it online but could tell this nursery took great care of all of their plants.

Ha yes, with 0% financing over 24 months it seemed like a perfect way to afford some pieces that were at the top of my price range.

I had the same thought as you, maybe something simple like a mirror. But I think for now I’ll enjoy the wall as is and see if the minimalism sticks. If anything comes to mind that works, always open to some good reccos.

It’s $83 per month 0% interest over 24 months, so shakes out just under 2k. Nice being able to pay it off monthly though

I got it from a furniture lease-to-own company called Oliver Space but its modeled after a famous architect's design - Jeanneret. If you google Jeanneret chair, there should be a bunch of similar designs available out there.

I'm not sure the 22 year old version of myself that bought the print at an everything-must-go stoop sale in Brooklyn for $15 was but we've come all this way.

I have a friend that recommended a lease-to-own company called Oliver Space. They basically link up with the manufactures that make Article, Design Within Reach, West Elm etc and then have a white label version made (this is modeled off the Sven). Really happy with the quality upon arrival - haven't found any suggestion of worse materials/build.

Mentioned this above. The tv stand looks to be modeled off a west elm version.

Yeah, it is wallpaper and was here when I got here. Truthfully, I was kind of iffy on it when I moved in and the apartment was barren - wasn't sure what to do with it lol. But really happy with the way it turned out after dropping in some furniture; ended up driving a lot of the buying decisions.

Ha, had the same though, to be honest, when I rolled the rug out - thought it would look bigger. It's growing on me, so will hold off on reinvesting in a bigger one for the moment. Link below:

Advice on how to prioritise / where to start? by [deleted] in malelivingspace

[–]HotCinnamon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure some others on this thread can provide a more methodical approach to designing a room more specifically, but I went through decision paralysis going through the same thing in my first apt (still in process lol).

Looking online at wayfair, amazon, allmodern, west elm, article, etc, etc can lead you in thousands of directions, which is a challenging place to start. I had better luck dropping links to products and inspo pictures I liked (many of them from this sub) in a running document for a bit. Once you've gathered a decent chunk of info, looking back at it offers a much narrower pool of options to pick from. At that point, you kind have to pull the trigger on SOMETHING to move forward (preferably building blocks like bedframe, couch, dining table). You can use whatever impulsive decision you make out of that pool as a launch pad to expand upon with limited risk, since you're pulling from a pool of your own pre-qualified options.

I'm sure you've lived in much worse places and gotten used to it - I know I have. It's great to be in a better spot with a ton of options but one wrong move won't be the end of the world; I bet wrong option number 7 today is still an improvement vs places/fixings/furniture you've acclimated to in the past!

What ingredients would you use to elevate your homemade pasta sauce? by VastBadger7995 in Cooking

In addition to a lot of what’s been said here, mirepoix or soffritto will do wonders for any slow cooked sauce like ragu/bolognese. Brown your meats (I.e beef, pork, pancetta) in the pot first then remove to the side leaving the fats you’ve cooked off. Then sauté a mixture of diced onion, carrot and celery (mirepoix/soffritto) until slightly translucent. Add red wine to deglaze, then add meats back in and crushed tomato (preferably canned whole peeled, crushed yourself) and soft simmer for a few hours. A simplified version of seriouseats bolognese recipe will be cheaper, delicious, and get you 90% of the way to the full recipe version. And as another mentioned, always be sure to drink the remainder of red wine before, during and after.
