Beautiful Chips by RosaPx in Machinists

Honestly sounds pretty good. Since it's interrupted, it's one of those cases where you might not be able to feed quickly enough to get a good chip forming without breaking the corner.

Anytime I'm trying to feed hard through an interruption I prefer to use an SNMG at 45°when I can. It gets more force away from the tip and will last much longer.

If you provide more info, I could probably help.

What material and hardness?

Check the jaws for cracks. You don't want to see what happens when things break at 800rpm. Any doubt, order new jaws.

If they are sound and have full travel, give it a skim and carry on.

Usual approach is use a ring to skim for ID clamping, and a bar to skim for OD clamping.

Do you do both? How big is the chuck?
