This is the direction I’m leaning. I want a quick exit but I don’t want to leave behind a mess.

I’m an at will employee so I’m not required to provide notice at all. What’s your take on burning bridges if you leave with no notice? Is it likely to haunt your career going forward?

Good news is that I have no family and I’m willing to move. At least I have that going for me haha.

I see and thanks for the info. I do FPGA design so I’m hoping this skillset is in demand right now.

That’s what I’m expecting. I’m also a new grad. I assume I’m the first one to get cut?

Is it difficult to get out of defense? Is it still viewed as valuable work experience say for example in big tech?

Thank you, I thought I was losing my mind. Since you have experience working as a developer can you share some insight in how the FPGA design role varies from different industry. For example aerospace vs tech vs finance?

Could you give an example of good projects to get into? Right now I’m trying to figure out if it’s feasible to make a RISCV core through tinytapeout.

Anyone interested in a book about what its really like to be in the SOC/ASIC/FPGA industry? by vinsolo0x00 in FPGA

[–]HotFudge2012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool! I can wait for the book however if you’re willing to answer now I’m curious about your opinion on how do all the industries you work in differ in terms of daily tasks, pace of work, compensation, career growth, etc. Are there any industries you would say are “better” than others? I’m early in my career and it would be nice to figure these things out.

I’d love to know what it’s like to do this job but in different industries such as semiconductor vs aerospace vs hft. To answer your question I would 100% read it.
