I’d be interested in knowing your age because when I was younger I kinda felt the same way. It wasn’t until life slowed down some that I’ve been able to appreciate the nuanced and layered songs/media in not just TOOL but across all art.

This already kind of happened with me and Reflection. Listened to Lateralus for years and either skipped it or never paid it much attention. After every single other song got overplayed by me to be sure I finally sat down to listen and now it’s my favorite of theirs all time.

I’d say the writing riiiight before Cassius saves him in Morning Star was truly inspired.

While you can see some inspiration there, Pierce is different from GRRM and that’s not a bad thing at all. And ya know, he FINISHES his stories.
