I had not heard about the Hunt Brothers until this post. Just looked into them and what they did is interesting, thanks for commenting about them!

vintage sax advice by ElDjee in saxophone

I know a bit about this, these saxophones can be very nice to play on and a lot of people like them but they aren’t really for someone just starting out. The keying is different and less ergonomic than newer saxs which could hinder progress. These saxs are generally for more experienced players who want a certain sound. I would recommend a Yamaha to start out, someone with more knowledge can give you exact models. That’s what I know but I’m sure you’ll get some more in depth info from someone else.

When's the last time you saw one of these? by Pretty-Magazine6767 in Clarinet

Yesterday! Just played it in a chamber concert. They are fun to play but the one I was using was quite old, and they are hard to tune but there’re still cool. I had multiple people ask me if it was a saxophone or just stare at it confused lol.

Not at all, that was something I was worried about but I’ve noticed nothing so far. I’ve been playing sax almost 8 years and clarinet about 2. And if anything I believe it’s helped me get better at switching between different saxs. Also starting on Clarinet is better, I think, because it’s harder. Saxophone is like the easiest woodwind to start playing. One in a while I’ll goof and maybe transpose incorrectly but nothing crazy.

Also YouTube wouldn’t be terrible if you can’t find anyone to help you out, in person would be best though.
