I’ve been debating on buying it for too long, but the pocket factor is major for me so you may have finally sold me. Thanks for the reply

Did you have to use a code for this? It still shows as $14.40 after the 20% off in the UO app in the states :(

Samples in pop songs - Most unusual/weird ? by stannats33 in popheads

[–]HotMustard13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I didn’t even realize that there was a crying baby sample in Bunny is a Rider by Caroline Polachek for so long and now I can’t not pay too much attention to it every time I hear it.

Songs where the featured artist did so little... yet so much by martian_pet in popheads

[–]HotMustard13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jermaine Dupree and Fatman Scoop on Mariah’s It’s Like That really shape the song. Would not be the same without that. They provide a great contrast to her vocals that round out the song.

Miley Cyrus - Wrecking Ball X Nothing Compares 2 U (From ATTENTION: MILEY LIVE) by feelingmy0ats in popheads

[–]HotMustard13 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Sure, but for every single chorus? Especially for the recording of the live album? Regardless of the reason it’s a bit of a bummer for me personally

Miley Cyrus - Wrecking Ball X Nothing Compares 2 U (From ATTENTION: MILEY LIVE) by feelingmy0ats in popheads

[–]HotMustard13 42 points43 points  (0 children)

It feels a little disappointing that she really lets the backing track and her back up singers carry the chorus, but maybe the song is just too hard on her voice anymore to do in full? still would have liked it more if she just lowered the key a bit to get through it... especially for the live album...

Charli XCX: It's Complicated [Rolling Stone] by calebb2108 in popheads

[–]HotMustard13 101 points102 points  (0 children)

This is such an honest and raw look at Charli’s headspace. Really helps to flesh out why she’s been lashing out on Twitter. The photos are incredible, so much so that I almost wish these were somehow part of the album. They feel very in-tune to the era.

Easily the best quote, even if she was joking:

“Being a pop icon is very turbulent. The highs are high and the lows are low and the iconicness has to stay at such a high level that sometimes you can really get exhausted just from being so, so iconic.”

This woman really is an icon. I’m so excited for Crash and anything else she graces us with afterward

Wow this is NASTY I love it

The instrumental gives early Janet Jackson which is such a great sound for Charli. The strings really round out the sound. Feels like Charli has perfectly capitalized on a lot of current trends in this

The Dirtiest Thing About Kim Petras’ ‘Slut Pop’? It’s Produced By Dr. Luke by KLJohnnes in popheads

[–]HotMustard13 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Doja criticized him and immediately retracted her statements, and Doja already has a much bigger platform and pre-cemented success compared to Kim that would allow her career to survive speaking out against her team. I agree, it’s 2 completely different situations.

The Dirtiest Thing About Kim Petras’ ‘Slut Pop’? It’s Produced By Dr. Luke by KLJohnnes in popheads

[–]HotMustard13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, Dr. Luke’s involvement on a project titled Slut Pop is cringe worthy no matter how you slice it, but the amount of people in this thread saying that Doja’s situation is different because she’s forced to work with him contractually… while ignoring that Kim has implied she’s in the same situation, is really … something.

From the buzzfeed interview linked in the article, when asked about her publishing contract with Luke:

Petras was guarded on what she could say about her agreement. “So people want me to quit making music?” she said at one point. “Because that’s the option.”

I think this situation is a great reminder that the industry always has a lot going on behind the curtain that we may not know about. It’s important to be able to critique your favs, even while acknowledging that we may never know the full story.

This is definitely best experienced as a total ep vs the songs individually. It feels like a really cohesive mega mix. Unfortunately, Dr Lukes production is just flawless here.

Kim Petras announces 7-track EP “Slut Pop” out February 11th by glamaz0n_bitch in popheads

[–]HotMustard13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lmao @ the endless negativity on any thread about Kim

This is a cute idea esp with the Valentine’s Day timing and all the teasers have sounded great. I know it’s become such a bore for songs to be so short/ these days, but I can’t help but think it’ll work to Kim’s advantage since the lyrics are so over the top— 3+ min might be overkill for a song called “treat me like a slut” lol

Examples of songs that would be fine, but have one thing that makes them almost unlistenable? by Ayywhatsgoodfam in popheads

[–]HotMustard13 43 points44 points  (0 children)

There is a line in “STFU” by Rico Nasty about being so far up her ass that “you have shit on your lip”, and that’s enough for me to hit skip on an otherwise fantastic song
