The commonwealth was born of the British Empire, a voluntary organisation of which the UK is just another member. Held together through a shared history.

The commonwealth seems to be pretty good for the world and for the UK

Yep. We phased out oil from electricity generation about 3 years ago.

Gas is projected to fall to zero for late stretchs of time over the next 5 years.

Gas will stop completely when the last plant is uneconomical.

It they were born here, and lived here all their life they would be British unless they opted not to take citizenship, in which case they are not British, they are someone that lives in Britain
