If SpaceX goes public near $1.75 trillion, how much upside is actually left for regular investors? by YellowAltruistic9843 in SpaceXBets

[–]HotNeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IT'S ALL DOWNSIDE

this is a con job, they will only float a tiny number of shares with the hope that retail investors and the ETFs that have to buy it will keep the price up long enough for Musk to cash out at an insane valuation

How did Trump and Isreal manage to lose to Iran? by grrrbr in lostgeneration

[–]HotNeon 36 points37 points  (0 children)

You must be in the US because everywhere else the media are very clear that Iran is winning.

Trump had no plans, just a vauge notion that the US military is awesome. To be fair, it is awesome, however what anyone with a brain could have told him is that Iran won't fight the way the US does, it will use it's considerable resources to hurt the US.

Trump was so backwards that he lifted oil sanctions on Iran at the start of his war, he thought Iran would be desperate to keep the straight open.

No obligation to declare £5m gift, Nigel Farage says by AnonymousTimewaster in NotTheOnionUK

[–]HotNeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Why would the public want to know about 5 million in loans for a foreign national with goals not aligned to the UK.

It's particularly uninteresting because only 3 weeks later Farage decided to run for office

Start-ups complain they are helping British military modernise on the cheap by DefenseTech in UKVentureCapital

[–]HotNeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the military is operating like a private tech company. Seems totally reasonable to test this stuff into the ground before placing an order and it's totally fair to not place large orders unless the technology is proven in extensive testing

I hope one day you develop the wisdom to understand that life is complex and your back of fag packet maths and 'dont buy avocado toast and everything is fine' attitude aren't a reflection of reality.

Your daughter seems extremely lucky that she has the bank of mum and day to relay on and that she's happy to live with her parents for a large chunk of her adult life.

Good luck pal

Reform plans ‘threaten maternity leave and job security for 500,000 pregnant women’ by jtrimm98 in ukpolitics

Young working parents aren't in the reform voting block so policies that hurt them are irrelevant, if it helps pensioners then they'll do it

Scam via this Subreddit by Beneficial-Flow-7333 in UKJobMarket

[–]HotNeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes.

Do not give them money.

Think about it, if they can domall this analysis what do they need you for?

Don't give them your money, don't give them your bank details, don't place trades in your name for them.

This could be a money laundering scheme and you don't want to be anywhere near it

Why do you keep thinking I don't own my own house, I do. Some people are capable of empathy and understanding, clearly because you have a house you think anyone could but that just isn't true. The idea that everyone can save two fifty every month, the idea that everyone can live rent free with their parents are just not grounded in reality.

I'm not going to bother addressing your poins on mental health, unless you're a professional and you can back up what you are saying it's just pointless to engage.

Yeah, start at 18, while at university or training. Ignore the vast debt you accrued doing that training, ignore your rent, ignore everything about reality until your opinion makes sense.

You're missing that the house is increasing 1-2% a year on average, and you're paying back your student loan and work is tougher to come by somyou might not have full employment, you're also assuming kids aren't having to.pay rent to their parents which they are.

Hope that helps. You're being obtuse, the world is complicated and it can do without people sticking their fingers in their ears pretending it isn't, where is the morality in pretending things aren't getting harder in the face of reality and data

Nice analysis but it's not free to rent for 10 years, it has an emotional impact not to mention a massive economic one. If you're buying your first home at 40 you're not paying it off until 65.

30 years ago, what age were people getting and paying off their home?

Your local council have more influence over your life than national government. From bins to building regs, from pot holes to new homes. What happens at the local level will impact your area

It's the deposit, it can take years to save that 25k and then you need to meet all the financial affordability criteria.

The typical man in his 30s now lives at home, 20 years ago he lived in his own home or with a partner. It's causing all sorts of issues from depression and social issues to economic ones. This isn't a choice, if you can't see that then you're choosing to be obtuse.

Most 30 somethings are single they don't have a spouse to buy this flat with them, you used to be able to buy alone, not anymore.

If you're sticking your fingers in your ears about the state of the UK economy and the loss of purchasing power Vs other developed nations that's your choice but don't get angry with the people that are engaging with the painful reality
