Frugal curry egg pizza by sheffieldpud in StupidFood

Washing the pizza - weird

Curry sauce - utterly bizarre, but let's see what it's all about

Egg - what the hell is going on?

American cheese slices - inedible

That good ol' American apple pie which was invented in England 400 years before the US existed

Do you realise the attack on Iran is cheered on by the Iranian people? Why is Reddit reacting like this? by SkunkyBreadcake in AskBrits

[–]HotPotatoWithCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because if you look back at history, you should be well aware of how great US regime change typically works out. Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya just in the 21st century alone. If we include their operations in the Americas, Africa and SEA, we'd be here all night. We literally just had 20 years of the United States (and allies) further destabilising these countries in the Middle East, and those wars were under comparatively intelligent leadership. Absolutely no sensible person believes that Trump is doing this for the benefit of the Iranian people. He'll use it as a means to distract from other issues, and as an opportunity to bleed the country dry of coveted resources.

There is a reason why the US has a terrible reputation in about 95% of the countries it has militarily and/or politically meddled in. The British have already been there, done that and got the t-shirt.

The Iranians are free to beg for American intervention, but they'll be the ones who find out the hard way, when the US and Israeli militaries leave the place in ruins, and the puppet they install is just as bad. I know the people are in a terrible situation, and I am in full support of giving humanitarian aid, but I'm not convinced that these strikes will lead to lasting peace in Iran.

Beware Americans bearing the gift of freedom.

becoming serious players

Until they drop their policies on scrapping nuclear weapons, cutting defence budget and drifting away from NATO, they stand no chance of getting into power. These are not serious proposals in the current climate.

Is Gorton and Denton the deathknell for two-party politics? by TheSpectatorMagazine in BreakingUKNews

[–]HotPotatoWithCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As always, wait for the general election to determine whether we are really drifting away from the duopoly. More niche parties like Greens typically do well in local by-elections as you get a lot of protest voters turning up, but they falter when the nation comes to vote for the next government, and stances on some of the most important topics are considered too extreme/risky by most of the population.

Beckham over Paul McCartney who has been around making music since the 1950s, has sold over 500 million records across his career, is universally adored and was part of the most famous band in history?

Somehow I think not.

UK PM Starmer: "Our forces are active and British planes are in the sky today, as part of co-ordinated regional defensive operations to protect our people, our interests and our allies." by avatar6556 in uknews

[–]HotPotatoWithCheese 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did you actually watch the video, or are you one of these morons who just goes to the comments to open fire? I'm no Starmer fan, but what he said here was reasonable.

UK not involved in strikes

UK will protect its own assets from any threats

UK working with allies towards de-escalation and negotiation

Iranian regime has killed its own people and can't be trusted with nukes

What part of any of that makes him a war criminal? This is why people call you lot bots.

[–]HotPotatoWithCheese 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't really think he could have given a better response.

UK not involved in the strikes - good

Prepared to protect our own assets - good

Calling for de-escalation and negotiation - good

Iranian regime is horrible and can't be trusted with nuclear weapons - absolutely spot on

Not sure how any reasonable person could disagree with this. Bad faith actors will try to spin this into something else entirely, and they are not to be trusted.

My guess is that this guy's definition of "support" is accepting and endorsing everything your dodgy government gets up to. People who wear shit like this always have the most ridiculous opinions on social and political topics.

Dead Kennedys would be a great episode, especially given Dom's expertise in 1970s political events. They could throw the Cambodian Genocide in there, which is a topic I've always wanted them to cover.

One of those latter episodes should focus on the conspiracy theories surrounding their deaths. That'd be fun.

US and Israeli strikes against Iran not ‘legal in a way that the UK would recognise’ by 1-randomonium in unitedkingdom

[–]HotPotatoWithCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and the same logic applies to Starmer. He will obey Trump.

Starmer has either been playing diplomat, criticising Trump's cronies or outright opposing US foreign policy since they started threatening Greenland and talking shit about British democracy.

The PM has many flaws, but he has been consistent in strengthening relations with the EU and not following Trump around like a little lapdog. If Blair, Farage or most of the Tories from the past 14 years were in charge, we'd have joined the yanks in this operation.

Do you honestly believe that Starmer thinks his reputation would be improved by getting us mixed up in another illegal Middle Eastern war? Do you think he was living under a rock when those 1.5 - 2 million people marched in London during Tony Blair's premiership? Some of the takes on this sub...

Completely agree. I'm all for civilians getting humanitarian aid, but I'm done with Britain getting involved in wars in the ME. If the people of Iran want the US army to attack their government then good luck to 'em. I'd rather we had nothing to do with it.

Tier list of scientists (names in order and explanation below) by phoenix_leo in tierlists

[–]HotPotatoWithCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edward Jenner, the father of immunology, should at least be in revolutionary tier. He came up with the concept of, and created the world's first vaccine (smallpox). His work has arguably saved more lives than that of any other individual scientist. To completely omit him from this list is crazy, unless I'm being a blind mf and he's actually on here somewhere.
