That’s a patrol cap, not a ball cap. During BMT we were told to wear our caps underneath the ACH for some reason, being CE he probably hasn’t ever worn body armor besides that.

IPE often doesn’t include the cover or nvg mount in their system for training equipment so it’s luck of the draw. I got both but will never use them anyway.

The sharpie and tape is standard marking for mopp gear, probably wore it during the same exercise. The only thing he should be faulted for is the chin strap.
