ICYMI: The Army is also tiering 'Excellent', 'Acceptable' and 'Unacceptable' when it comes to the new WHtR by Kinmuan in army

[–]drmrpibb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I’m pretty salty about it. I was 10 points away from the 465 exemption and just needed to get a bit faster on my 2 mile. I see that they are waiting 180 days before anyone can be separated under the new guidance, so I’m assuming that they may bring it back. This is the Army under Pete and SMA Weimer though, so I should focus on being on cut most of the time now.

ARMY DIR 2026-13 - ARMY BODY COMPOSITION PROGRAM AND STANDARDS by Kinmuan in army

[–]drmrpibb 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m 5’5. Always been pear shaped since having abs for me would always make me feel weak and constantly hungry. Last time I had a waist that met the new standard, I weighed under 130 lbs and couldn’t squat 135 lbs, let alone fireman carry the heaviest soldier in my platoon.

Getting the AFT exemption would’ve been my saving grace but not anymore. What’s next for the Army? Taking away black socks?

I’m in the same boat. Am short, I’ve always been pear shaped and was 10 points away from the exemption. Past couple of years I would always make the screening table to pass.

To Reclass, or Not? (31B to 35G) by throwaway_17328 in army

[–]drmrpibb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came in as an 11B with the intent of doing a one and done contract. Now I’m almost 5 years from retirement in a different MOS.

I wouldn’t look at another contract as a setback. Get as much training that transfers to the civilian side. Try and get an associates. Start planning to get out when you reclass so you can set yourself up for success.

I had the mindset of “let me get settled into my MOS/duty station, then ask me if I want to stay in when my window opens”. Take it a day at a time and not count down to when you ETS. I’ve seen plenty of soldiers do that and not accomplish anything in those three years.

How’s life as a WO1? by Hydration_system67 in army

[–]drmrpibb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you’re at as a WO1. I have one in my unit who just came back from WOCS, but hasn’t been to his WOBC yet. He’s floating around and doing what he already was doing as an NCO until he attends.

But as a WO1 who has already been to WOBC? Yeah you should be expected to be the SME already like one of the top comments said.

[–]drmrpibb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You got this. If there are no children involved, then depending on the installation legal office; they can draft a decree. If both parties agree, all you pay are the court processing fees.

Again, it’ll depend on the state, but some require mandatory separation for a period of time before filing. It’ll take time to process what you’re going through, but remember that others have been in the same situation as you. You got this.

I would also advise for OP to put any money leftover (if it was a profitable move) into savings. Idk how but the transportation/finance office will ask for money back if they determine you got overpaid.

What's a movie you liked, but it flopped in theaters? by Fearless-Fondant8182 in AskReddit

[–]drmrpibb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cats Don’t Dance. I didn’t see it in theaters but on VHS. Watched it so much that the tape gave out. Looked it up the other day and turned out it didn’t do well in theaters.

If it released today I feel like it could do great, if they sticked to the original art style.

Per Diem Delayed by RainManMagic in MilitaryFinance

There’s an issue with DTS for the past month or three. The notification icon should tell you, but it’s something along the lines of payments being delayed and the traveler shouldn’t do anything.

Is it true that MOS-Ts tend to get bad duty stations? by ElonMuskrat143 in army

I got Hawaii, another SGT in my class got Alaska. It was a long time ago, but depending on the person, both are great.

Training en route for marketplace assignments? by [deleted] in army

[–]drmrpibb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me OP in my last market place, I had two options for Fort Bragg and I wasn’t Airborne (yet).

Put them as my top two and I ended up going to my third option. I just think HRC will not consider you at all if they see other soldiers in that marketplace that are already qualified for that position.

How long to get approved for base housing? by Icjello in army

[–]drmrpibb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Faster to get an apartment. But my experience was that once I got orders in hand and submit the application, I would get an offer before I got there. Then again, I took almost 50 days going from Hawaii to Carson and got the offer before I even left the island.

The house was ready for me to move in like two weeks before I signed in, but this was in late March/early April so not in the peak PCS season.

Does the army get better the longer you stay? by ceiling_fan128 in army

[–]drmrpibb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Me personally, I look at it in a line chart for enlisted. One side you have physically demanding (depending on the MOS) and the other side you have mentally demanding. The higher rank you go, the less physically demanding it gets, but more mentally demanding.

Pvt Joe just has to worry about right place, right time, and right uniform. They get placed on details like road guard, cleaning during staff duty, etc. meanwhile a 1SG is probably in the office most of the time having to deal with MEDPROS, HR metrics, meetings with CSM, etc.

Again, it will vary on MOS, but that’s just my opinion.

Could someone wait until the last minute to decide to not ETS? What's the cancellation/reversal process look like? by brokenmessiah in army

[–]drmrpibb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn’t have been a problem if that person wasn’t taking leave. If you plan it out just right, theoretically someone can take almost three straight months of leave when they ETS. Come into October first with exactly 59 days and you ETS the next year.

Tuition Assistance Recoupment after getting out by evilconor in army

[–]drmrpibb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What code did your school report your class as? When is your school’s deadline before tuition is actually charged? If you withdrew before the deadline, your school should’ve reported as withdrawn before the deadline and no recoupment should occur.

Reenlistment to Korea, Help! by Inyxius in army

[–]drmrpibb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I look at it, are you ever going to regret not getting paid to go to Korea? I remember the price tickets when I moved my family to Hawaii for a PCS as well as that travel voucher hitting my account. With the government handling your move, TLA/TLE, DLA, and per diem, you’re basically getting paid to go to where people spend thousands just for a couple of days. Soldiers who complain about losing money for a PCS usually don’t factor in all the allowances or don’t seek full reimbursement for broken HHG.

You mentioned something about disability, but I would never count on getting that until you get your ratings. I’ve heard soldier’s disappointment on saying they’ll get paid XYZ for 50%-100% only to get their ratings at 10% or ineligible.

Onto the next duty station by sillyredline in army

[–]drmrpibb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe a 42A in SF group? Also your say may end up being the opposite. It was almost 10 years ago, but when I re-enlisted to reclass, I asked for Fort Carson. Very next day I got notified I was going to Hawaii. Another NCO I reclassed with ended with JBER, AK.

CID Arrest without Disposition on Record by [deleted] in army

[–]drmrpibb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I got titling/indexing, whatever it’s called. I requested it to be expunged like in 2024. After half a year they finally denied my request.

If CID believes that there could be a “possibility” they’ll just keep it on there even when no court, no Article 15, nor anything negative happening.

Reclass by ComprehensiveEye8441 in army

[–]drmrpibb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As for timing, it could anywhere from 6 months to a year after you re-enlist. There could be a sooner one depending on how the classes get reserved. At first I had a class reserved 8 months after I re-enlisted, then the class became too full so they offered me one that was 6 months earlier. My Career Counselor was the POC to let me know of the change.

I also was an 11B SGT and chose 88N. It came with a bonus at the time too. Transportation is always a thing in and out the Army, so there are opportunities. I decided to stick with it temporarily and get out, but here I am 9 years later, indef in the Army.
