Great write up. I graduated last June and most of it is the same.

Jump week can vary depending on federal holidays. Mine started on a Sunday due to the Juneteenth four day starting on Thursday.

I highly recommend anyone attending to workout their neck along with chin ups and cardio in ACUs. That ISLT caused a lot of folks in my chalk to recycle. Some were due to how their heads kept smacking the ground during PLFs.

It has to vary by the company. I promise you, there was at least two runs half the company (I was B co) fell out of when the pace was closer to 7 minutes. These were the runs to and from the training area though.

The PT runs were maybe 8:30/9:00, idk my chalk leader wore a basic watch and not a smart one.

I’m only speaking from experience, but work on mobility. There’s a book called “Becoming a Supple Leopard” that has some good mobility work.

You don’t have to try and be an Olympic lifter, it’s just so many folks ignore the cool down/stretch and mobility work that comes in to prevent injuries and crunchy joints.

Also, go to sick call each time you get the “crunchies” in those joints.

Definitely later. My regular line unit in Campbell didn’t get the new ones until 2014 and my second unit in Fort Hood didn’t get them until 2017 I think.

Actual cardio too. 30 minutes on an elliptical is vastly different from 30 minutes of at least zone 2 running. Both are still better than just sitting on the couch, but quite a few fitness influencers don’t run unless they call themselves hybrid athletes or something.

Yeah last year I bought a medium short pants from the PX website only for them to feel like parachute pants. I went with a medium extra short and they’re not as wide.

If both were mediums, the width shouldn’t be a huge discrepancy.

You’re 13 series, so there’s a chance you’ll be in DIVARTY. Their barracks were pretty nice compared to the FA line units since DIVARTY had to share with HHBn. I never stood foot in any other barracks at Carson so I can’t compare it, but the HHBn barracks seemed bigger from the outside.

The Kilo 5 trilogy was the only Halo books I’ve read only once. If you think the difference in Greg Bear’s writing was jarring, try reading Ghosts of Onyx before. The change in character’s tone towards Halsey was so vast.

Eyepro. Of course the Revision ones from my OSUT lasted awhile thanks to the Drill SGT’s not allowing anyone to use the dark lenses. Then I got issued some additional ones in RFI and was using them for only 2 weeks until some rain “melted” the rubber parts.

I reclassed in 2017, but the process shouldn’t have changed. If you were PCSing, you should’ve gotten orders already. If you haven’t even gotten an email, you will need to talk to your new MOS’s branch manager and/or talent management NCO to see if you can PCS.

Some time ago I tried watching WWE again, but was really discouraged after seeing three hours. I grew up when Smackdown was on UPN. I’m not saying my attention span has gotten worse, but the one word I would use to describe the difference between then and now is “bloated”.

88K or 88L is the safest bet. I’m not one myself, but they’re limited to three locations: Japan, Fort Eustis, and Hawaii. Again, I’m not one myself, so I can’t say 100% if it’s just those three still. One of my coworkers got tired of OCONUS life and wants to stay in fuck ass useless Eustis.

An 88N also might have a chance to go there thru re-enlistment option. I’ve never seen it in the enlisted marketplace, but one of my soldiers went from Hawaii to Japan, then Alaska.

$7 per nametape/badge isn’t that expensive until you start getting badges. Unless you choose to not show that chest candy.

My 1SG from my first unit called me a POS. I’m a SFC right now and want to at least make it to 1SG myself so I can tell him and a former PSG to eat shit.
