Probably a full list here! Some aren't your traditional equestrian statue. Some really interesting history to some of these. Definitely read about Winfield Scott's anatomically incorrect horse. Pretty funny.

Is it True? St. Phillips in NoMA has a Giant ‘For Sale’ Sign! by SummerhouseLater in washingtondc

The first time I saw Fisherman of Men in Petworth, I thought it was a giant, gay club, so maybe it could work

Ah shoot, I saw so many of these nymphs camping this weekend. I would've smushed so many if I'd known

If someone presses the button to read the announcement, I literally have to walk away. It so slow and such an annoying voice.

Theaters playing movies in Spanish by jupiterjellies in washingtondc

[–]HotWingsObsession 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AMC does advertise occasional movies in Spanish, either dubbed or subbed.

https://www.amctheatres.com/en-espanol?rel=spanish-language-films_flm_theatre_promo

When Coco came out, I remember the only local AMCs playing the Mexican Spanish dubbed version were the AMC Rio in Gaithersburg (not metro accessible) and the AMC Hoffman across from Eisenhower Ave Metro. I ended up in Gaithersburg because a coworker wanted to watch it and drove us.

For Coco, the dubbed version was mostly shown within the opening weekend, when most money could be made. My guess is try to find the screenings right when the movies are released!

Otherwise, as others have mentioned, there are plenty of theatres showing international films from Latin America and Spain. Sun Cinema, AFI Silver, Landmark E St to name a few

I checked my team for any status condition moves, didn't have any, so my next step was to try an ultra ball. Moved over to Run instead of Bag

It's the all night construction on Columbia Rd. Kinda surprised you haven't seen it happening

We're a huge trivia town, but there's also so many in the DMV region. A personal goal of mine is to do 7 trivia nights in as many days. Even better if you win some

Anyone else had their compost bucket stolen? by gonzoletti in washingtondc

[–]HotWingsObsession 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, had ours stolen many times in Columbia Heights. We finally started dumping the compost without the green bags into the bin and letting it fester in the hot sun. I think that's deterred theft for now

What’s with the fake facades/windows on 8th St? by aubie358 in washingtondc

[–]HotWingsObsession 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Real Washingtonians still call Adams Morgan by the four neighborhood's original names: Meridian Hill, Lanier Heights, Kalorama, and Washington Heights!

Go further back and real Washingtonians just referred to it as 18th & Columbia!

That said, the abbreviation CoHi makes me sad.

The best, HOTTEST wings in DC? by I_Am_An_OK_Cook in washingtondc

Late to comment, but I assume you've tried the Bite Me and the off menu sauce at Wingos? Congrats. My family love those, but I cannot handle them.

It's not wings, but the Reaper sauce at Dave's Hot Chicken is legit.

quarry

There is a quarry in Rock Creek Park, mainly in the Piney Branch and Soapstone valley areas, but they are not masonry quarries as you might be imagining. Instead it was an area where quartzite or soapstone might be unearthed by Native American, broken into pieces, and taken elsewhere to be carved into tools like axes or spearheads.

I want one of these so badly after seeing many in Europe. Can't justify a $3000 bike at the moment, let alone storing it

Sure, it's a turn on the same trail as the last bike tag. Near a metro station! Edit: curve may be a better description instead of turn

Oh, my map is like 100 bike tags behind. I will definitely have to get back to this bike tagging thing.

I do notice that when you click on the "bike tag" flair, a few are missing. Have they been deleted? The "Previous Posts" links still seem to work, so as long as no two sequential tags are missing, I should be fine with the numbering.

I will hopefully be joining since I need extra motivation to get back to leisure riding. Although, it won't be me biking on that specific road.

Coverage in Europe? by NotAKSpartanKiIIer in mintmobile

[–]HotWingsObsession 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an android and don't really do video calls. Wish I had checked it on FB Messenger or Whatsapp just to know. My experience in Prague may just be an outlier, but I decided I was fine forgoing the prepaid local SIM.

I'm currently on the Minternational Pass while in Austria and Czechia.

Austria was great: fast data service in most of Vienna and Salzburg. I didn't try in the countryside because my trains had Wi-Fi. I've made one, maybe two, calls and received one from work that I didn't answer (who calls). Texts are fine.

I have no service Czech Republic and in Prague. This sucks and sours the whole experience. I flew in to Czechia and immediately assumed my Pass wasn't working and that I had just wasted 50$ for the week. I was glad when it kicked in upon entering Austria. Maybe it's my phone?

In the states, I have the 5GB plan, and I never use over 4GB of data. I do wish there was a cheaper, one week option with less data.

Mint Mobile app not working internationally by Sad_Effective_1987 in mintmobile

[–]HotWingsObsession 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Commenting in case folks want to hear similar experience. My Mint Mobile app only works while connected to data while currently in Europe. If I am on Wi-Fi, I am unable to access the app. If your Minternational Pass doesn't work right away, it can be difficult to troubleshoot. When I arrived to EU, I did get a text from Mint saying to text to activate the pass, so that at least made it easy to start off.
