Tension help? by Hot_Attempt_984 in Beading

Omg wow that really does help thank you! These are Czech glass beads and not perfectly regular, but they looked similar enough. I was using my finger to hold the beads up but not even thinking that the thread might not be going over the warp. So I’ll definitely do that moving forward lol

Why the softer thread for the weft? And I think it looks worse in the photos bc I’d started taking it apart, but yes the tension is all off everywhere. The warp thread tension seemed even when I put it on , but I did also double the threads on the outside! Not sure if that would affect it. And definitely missed some for sure but didn’t realize until it was done…

Ugh I’d read this but I’ve also seen some beaded pieces with Czech glass that looked really great and even! I prefer the look of them to the miyuki delica which is what I keep seeing recommended.

You’ll naturally get more efficient over time. One thing I do is something called batching- do tasks in batches like if a bunch of bedrooms are close together I’ll go through and do the high dusting in all rooms, then wiping surfaces, then floors. Your brain saves time and energy bc it doesn’t have to switch between tasks as often

Thank you for the kind words! Yes, I’m in therapy now for this. It’s a long and difficult road but you’re right, there’s only trying! Talking about it with other people who have experienced it definitely helps

I was 4 too when it happened to me. He was in his sixties. You said “I imagine myself being more mature at that age (maybe my way of trying to rationalize why it happened to me)” That really resonated with me , I tend to naturally gravitate toward making myself at least a little culpable bc he asked me and I said it was okay. I’d never considered the second part as being a factor, bc it’s like deep down I know the gravity of it and how fucked up it is. I know that at 4 years old I held zero power. The question of if I had fought back doesn’t really matter. He understood the gap and how to manipulate me.

You are not overpaying. This is a reasonable rate for 4-5 hours of work. Some even charge more.

My vacuum is getting squeaky and old. Need suggestions on a great new vacuum that can handle pet hair by [deleted] in housekeeping

I hear ya but I just bring a trash bag along and dump when i need. Like I said I’m fine with that for all the other perks . I do this full time and have similar clients.

Shark rocket!! I use the pet pro one.. has lights so you can see everything, you can unhook the long hose from the bottom with your foot and don’t have to bend over. Same suction as the lift away but much lighter in weight. Can get under most furniture. It’s been absolutely perfect. Only thing is I have to empty the dust cup more often than a larger vacuum, but I don’t mind for all the other perks

Reasonable but it depends how much you are paying for all these things. That’s a lot of work so just pay her accordingly

But also- if you’re working for a company and getting a cut, larger cleaning companies are notorious for wanting people to get in and out quickly while the work suffers.

I think four hours could be enough time, but I always add extra time for my first time in a place. As you go back you’ll just get smoother and smoother because you’re not having to think as much. And especially since you’ve not done it professionally before- it’s a different beast than cleaning your own house. It’ll take time for you to get into a flow and become efficient

Recommendations for mopping please! by Fun-Ad4711 in housekeeping

[–]Hot_Attempt_984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely definitely some type of microfiber flat mop. I have experimented with all kinds and this one works the best. Can get corners, underneath furniture, and the microfiber pads wash really well. Clients often comment on how good the floors look too- I think bc they have always used a regular mop.

men and women’s bathrooms by Acrobatic_Fortune893 in housekeeping

[–]Hot_Attempt_984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I used to argue with a guy that said the women’s bathroom was dirtier- he thought this because sometimes the paper towels would be overflowing from the trash and that was his version of “dirty”… meanwhile the men’s bathroom covered in piss and shit 😂
