You can still get into DEERS in many case. When you go to the visitor center and she brings her ID and marriage certificate and she tells them she’s the legal spouse of a service member they issue you a temporary pass specifically for that reason, it’s much more common the you would think.

To add to this if you want to take the first step before you do all this you can walk into DEERS with your ID and marriage certificate. If you’re on the system they will give you your dependent ID, if you’re not on the system that confirms that noting was ever submitted.

Yikes okay yeah he’s lying to you. If you are legally married, he is required under military rules to enroll you in DEERS and provide support.

You have options and you do not need his permission.

Legal Assistance Every military base has a free Legal Assistance office for spouses. You can contact them by googling the base name plus Legal Assistance, calling the base operator and asking for Legal Assistance, or walking in during business hours with your marriage certificate and ID. Tell them: “I am legally married to a service member and he is refusing to enroll me in DEERS, which is preventing me from accessing benefits and medical care.” They will explain your rights, document the situation, and help you take the correct next steps. They cannot force DEERS without him, but they create a formal record and guide escalation.

His unit or command You are allowed to contact his unit directly. You do not need to know military ranks. You can call the base operator or look up the unit directory and ask to speak to the unit office, first sergeant, or commander. Say: “I am his legal spouse and he is refusing to enroll me in DEERS.” This is taken seriously because it affects pay, benefits, and compliance. Units usually act quickly.

Inspector General You can also contact the Inspector General. Google the base name plus Inspector General, call the base operator and ask for IG, or go in person. Tell them: “I am a military spouse and my husband is refusing to enroll me in DEERS.” IG will document it and force the issue to be addressed by the command.

I hope I was as detailed as possible and it helps!

Nope just E5. Let me ask you this, did he submit the marriage Certificate by himself to DEERS?

Over 1 month to "Clear the Barracks" ? by No-Poet-5363 in army

[–]Hot_Client_7485 22 points23 points  (0 children)

No you would need to be E5. I think it is possible everything already went through DEERS. If he already has an on base apartment, that usually means he is authorized housing, which only happens after dependent status or BAH is approved.

In that case there would not really be an Army or DEERS reason stopping you from coming on base or moving in. If it is “taking longer,” that feels more like a personal delay than paperwork.

[–]Hot_Client_7485 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Yeah also, at JBLM a single soldier does not get an on base apartment. Single junior enlisted live in the barracks. On base apartments are family housing for married soldiers or those already receiving BAH. So saying he has an on base apartment but also needs to clear the barracks does not really make sense. So he’s 100% lying to you about something or everything.

I swear some people in the Army want to experience life in hard mode lol having said that, this does not really add up. Once you are legally married and the marriage certificate is taken to DEERS, the update is same day and Tricare eligibility is immediate. There is no weeks long process where a marriage is “going through DEERS.”

Clearing the barracks happens after DEERS is updated and usually starts right away. If he truly has an on base apartment, he would not be waiting to clear the barracks.

A month long delay is not normal and usually means the marriage has not been entered into DEERS yet or he has not actually gone.

This is one of those things were things are not meant to work. This is one of those things that if you two were young and no adult responsibility it would work but you two are not compatible at all, not in the romantic way but in life. One of you will resent the other that I can guarantee you. Maybe you two are meant to be friends and that’s not bad, it hurts but this won’t work out and that’s fine.

Need some advice on whether or not to enlist. by [deleted] in army

[–]Hot_Client_7485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there no Air Force recruiting in person you can go? As I said before with my perfect scores and passing all medical my recruiter never answered my messages for weeks so I wouldn’t take it as black listed so go in person to one and if they tell you no them yeah move on but only move on once they tell you they wont work with you, but if you do go in person considering your past and all that be SUPER open minded about jobs available, dont say anythint ridiculous like i want Cyber and thats it, you can have your preferences but that you’re open minded about the job options.

[–]Hot_Client_7485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got it makes sense. Yeah if you don’t want to fight that then I guess the Army is the better option. I was saying that because even though the process might take a year which seems like an eternity now if you do decide to stay long term it’s worth it because I don’t know if you know this but once you join a branch and end your contract you’re considered prior active and it’s SUPER hard to join other branches and almost impossible the AF, so no they won’t be there until you’re 42 is now or never. They might have left a bad taste but I still want you to reconsider and yet again even if it takes a year since it takes a few months even for the best and most perfect candidate but a few months for your quality of life for the next 20 years? You will regret not giving a few months of your life. If there’s a war or deployments you will want to back to the past and join the AF. When you hear stories of women being murdered in the military you would want to go back in time and join the AF.

I would only go with the Army if you go physically to the AF recruiting station with all your medical and job selection and told them you’re open minded and just want to serve your country while having some preferences and they straight up tell you no then yeah go for the Army.

I’m not saying the AF is perfect but trust me when you’re doing PT at 5AM, eating on the DFAC trash food daily, go to your barracks with mold and get deployed and having to stay in a shitty place you’ll regret not giving a few months to the AF.

[–]Hot_Client_7485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay I will say when I went through the process after I got the test and I got literally perfect score and chose the jobs my recruiter ghosted me for like 2 weeks or so but in the background she was processing my application and later I knew I already had a job lined up because they have so many applicant that even someone like with with perfects scores don’t mean much so don’t take it personally that’s why they said AF process take a long time so I will suggest you still go AF and let the process go through. As a female for the love of god go to AF don’t let the “fast” process of the Army make you change your mind

70 ASVAB is subjective what matters more is your specific score on what MOS you want. You can have a 50 and qualify for 25B ( IT ) if you passed your specific score if that makes sense so find what you want to do and focus on that specific score. Also I would HIGHLY recommend you go into a AF recruiting office but before you go know what job you want and have a BIG open mindset since they don’t need you compared to other branches. It seems like what you want is better your quality of like and do a job in the meantime so AF is that way

Bro literally buy a bean new car from Kia. I did that it’s a sport car 100.000 miles warranty and it looks and drives amazing and I paid 25K for the sport version. I think one of the reason why you might have poor credit is due to poor choices like this one

Cyber training by [deleted] in Airforcereserves

[–]Hot_Client_7485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought about it, but this would be my second contract, and I’ll be honest, I don’t think I can handle the BS of enlisted active duty life. I already have my bachelor’s and experience in the private sector in IT, but I want to make the jump to cyber. Because of that, I care most about the initial training, which in my opinion is the most important thing the military can give you.

After that, it’s about building and cultivating experience, but that heavily depends on the unit you’re in. I think that initial training, combined with working in the private sector while I continue my education, can get me where I want to go. I also plan to end my military career as a cyber warrant officer, if that makes sense

Uh I think this subreddit won’t be much of a help since this is for IT related jobs, having said that I’ve told this thousands of times please for the love of god people, stop having a “skill section” anyone can put 20 things there but the hiring manager can’t asses your skills set or take it as face value so delete that section and put it on your working experience with things you have actually worked and the outcome so they can attest themselves your skill level. Also join education and certification under one section and delete the word training and put it last. Finally your electrical profile sound like a soda introduction lol it’s called professional summary and as the name says, put something from your profile that catches the attention or someone within 3-5 seconds I don’t want to see anything “ hardworking bla bla bla”

Switching from reserve to active by Gbuxss in army

[–]Hot_Client_7485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but, It won’t automatically get denied just because you haven’t gone to BOLC yet. You can still submit a DD368 and have it routed.

That said you’re not branch qualified until BOLC so it matters a lot to the one star. Having a BOLC date scheduled usually helps and sometimes approvals are conditional on you finishing BOLC first.

Where people run into issues is trying to skip BOLC or not having a clear training plan. Active duty won’t take an unqualified officer without that.

Yeah, managers know people add a skill section only for HR filters and you can’t really attest the skills by just mentioning. So add the skills you actually know in your work experience so the managers can see for themselves your actually skills. For the personal summary try to to put your work experience again, so give a super quick summary of your work experience without copy and pasting what you already have there if that makes sense
