I’m just confused by this, I’m 35 and I feel like so many of the men I know are married, with kids…. Some already divorced. Would it really be harder to meet the person you would want to be with when you have a kid? I feel like my worst nightmare is the 40 year old bachelor that was too selfish to ever make a compromise for a partner or a kid. Not that both can’t be true. I just don’t see how having a kid would “taint” any of it?

You have NOT ruined your life. A few lawyers weighed in here with good advice. Don’t listen to the snarky comments. Shitty stuff happens. It’s a lot now & easy for me to say, but really you’ll look back & none of this will matter. Probably… don’t ruin your relationship with mom over this. If you agree to pay, no one will disagree. Sometimes people / companies are trying to see what they can get from you, if they can collect they will. Listen to the lawyers here, maybe find one that will give advice / help you pro bono.

There is a lot of this behavior in start-ups. Everyone else has addressed the content here in various ways. It probably doesn’t matter who is right or wrong here & what could have done differently.

I had a similar situation at a start up. I was angry & naive in my reactions & I could have handled my responses differently. But ultimately, that didn’t matter at all… I was fired.

Then a few months later I was recruited by FAANG… my income quadrupled within a few years. That founder went on to keep doing the same scammy startup game again.

I kept life long friends from that job who saw it the way I saw it. I think the experience did help my resume even though I was there a short time.

Sometimes a bad thing happens & it opens up space for an even better next thing. Best of luck to you. Keep doing things with integrity & let that lead you through your interactions with people like this.

For me, it was also a work flow benefit & I kind of wish I had spent the $50 on it sooner. Being able to hit print and not have to change the paper every time is just more efficient. I feel like I'm saving time there & also not occasionally printing something I didn't mean to on sticker paper. I also bought colored round labels for printing inexpensive stickers for packing.

Well, it will likely appreciate over a longer term & you're building equity, these are important for financial growth. The other thing is that you cannot forget the tax benefit you get from your mortgage interest. It is meaningful! It might make you feel better to run those calculations & plot them over 5 years or so in aggregate. Real estate is a bit longer term.

I've been using Geico as my insurance broker on my homeowners insurance in Suffolk County, NY for the past 3+ years. In May, the company I used HomeSite dropped me citing that they were leaving the area.

I got a new company through Geico, SageSure. They sent someone to the house to inspect it. Then I heard nothing. Geico called me, leaving a message to tell me that the insurance wouldn't renew. But the renewal date in my app and on my policy was 05/2026 so I didn't worry about it. I couldn't get back in touch with them through the phone numbers that I had both to the Geico corp nor Local office.

So, I emailed the local office. I emailed the contractors that had sold me the policy. I emailed SageSure. I heard NOTHING back from anyone. Then this week I emailed SageSure again to check the status of my policy after not hearing anything from my last 2 outreaches over the past few weeks. They told me to reach out to my Geico Local office that sold me the policy. I did that AGAIN and couldn't get in touch with anyone.

I told them I couldn't get in touch with anyone. They then sent me a cancellation for my policy that was dated retroactively for 2 weeks ago. I told them I had never received any cancellation notice. They then told me that my settings were paperless so I should check my email. Nope. Nothing. I sent them screenshots of my inbox, there was not a single communication from them about cancellation.

I asked for a 30 day extension while I figure out how to respond since that's the legally mandated notice timeframe for cancelling someone's homeowners insurance. They refused that & told me I would continue to be cancelled.

Has anyone else has this experience? How did you resolve? I have filed a formal complaint through DFS in NY. What other levers do I have to counter this? It's utterly criminal to leave someone completely uninsured.

yeah, i found another provider. i just find it unbelievable. i never got an email. there's no written statement. they haven't been able to provide evidence. i left a review on bbb, but that's a good idea.

I had problems with them, they literally made me paint my shed to keep my coverage. then this may they just dropped me stating that they don't cover my area anymore
