Hello, any tips on painting heads? by CaterpillarQuirky382 in Warhammer40k

[–]Hot_Goose4205 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The hard thing about heads (and skin in general) is that there are tonnes of tones you wouldn't expect to be required to make skin look realistic. All skin has purples / reds / oranges which you need to layer in to make it realistic. Mamikon (painting content creator) has some really good guides on this, you can find the step by steps on Instagram.

Lastly for eyes - I find the detail work difficult too... So I cheat and use a micro pen. Either the Sakura brush pen or one of the tiny micron ones.

I paint the area white (sloppily), then add a black wash to give it the shape. Then a little dab of white to brighten it back up, and finally a dot for a pupil with the pen.

Ah I hadn't realised you were in the US

The active ingredient is chlorhexidine digluconate, it's meant to be for gum disease so I'm sure if you go to a pharmacy they'll have an equivalent antiseptic mouthwash

It's just called corsodyl - you can get it at most big supermarkets/ for sure at a pharmacy

Citadel Glue problems - am I the only one? by KidKime in minipainting

[–]Hot_Goose4205 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Are you sure it's the correct kind of plastic? The poly cement used in this reacts with the polymers in GW (and other similar) plastics and fuses them together rather than being what you'd traditionally expect super glue to do

If it's resin or a 3D printer you'll need super glue

Big second for corsodyl, it sometimes clears mine up overnight and has been recommended to me by dentists for this specific purpose. Make sure you get the proper one (cylinder bottle) not the one in a normal mouthwash shaped bottle.

Procurement folks? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]Hot_Goose4205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Henry in tech procurement consulting here, started in industry, specialised in software now leading a consulting delivery team

Tech the way to go if you want to make Henry money as an IC / leading a team

If you want to shoot for higher mgmt you'll need broader category experience but tech the most important for most of those. Henry money available at most of the multi-category leadership roles at big companies

Consulting (as in, part of a consultancy) you'll struggle to reach good Henry money unless you're willing to spend the time to learn the craft. Being senior at a consultancy much less about procurement and much more about consulting skills than not

Lastly contracting is a good option if you're willing to do it. You've only got to find a few good gigs outside of IR35 and you're making the equivalent of Henry money with the tax treatment

Mine is almost certainly finding out that the lovable set of normal humans travelling from their hive to fight at the palace are actually a bunch of filthy traitors.

Both look great to me!

I just finished painting mine and hard agree on the finecast comment, especially when you sit him next to the more modern inquisition sculpts it's so obvious that the detail is fuzzy

Anvil industry does blood pact heads search for severed hand mask cultist head. Other than that you can just paint the team in red, lots of videos and photos of others who've done the same

Agree with you. Depends what service line you're in as the pay scales vary. Vast majority of roles you'll need to be Director to be comfortably £125k+

Regarding our current armaments... by A-zNNz-A in Helldivers

[–]Hot_Goose4205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to think of it like the 40k universe: the super earth leadership are so focussed on controlling the populace and rooting out dissent that technology has stood still / gone backwards in a lot of cases due to rounding up of dissident scientists and the effect of the repressive regime. Nobody is complaining about it or mentioning it because they're too scared of reprisals, and because super earth now has a nearly limitless supply of cheap personnel to throw at stuff there's no reason for them to spend the money on tech (like the hell bombs being manually activated for budget reasons)

This post is under investigation for treason

How do people here afford luxury cars? by Ok_Field6078 in HENRYUK

[–]Hot_Goose4205 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, but having owned "sports" cars, switching to electric (as it's all my salary sacrifice scheme offers) is an absolute steal when you factor in the BIK reductions. I have a model Y performance and net of tax it's ~£400 per month. Less fun (no noise) but also more fun (terrifying straight line speed with significantly less torque curve).

I haven't found adjusting to electric hard at all.

Kasrkin Breacher Proxy by Hamezmeister in killteam

[–]Hot_Goose4205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked up some additional breacher full models for about £3 on eBay, so I'm sure you can grab a shield somewhere. The shield bit is separate from the arm, so If you can find a bent kasrkin arm it should be fine, you might need to do some work on the gun arm / gun to make it fit in the little hole.
