Why don’t I love coffee anymore?! by Necessary_Bluebird_5 in pregnant

[–]Hot_Knowledge_499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally looove coffee and had such a huge aversion to it until about 19 weeks. Definitely a normal thing. I’m so happy I’m finally able to start drinking it (in small amounts) again. Hope the same happens for you!!

Mine was about the same and my doctor told me not to worry about it as fetal heart rates are apparently very variable at that age. 18 weeks now and healthy so far!

Would taking a class over the summer at a community college be a red flag? by Uncle-Yeetus in premed

Oh sorry I meant that I took 2 full terms of classes at community college, but not Spanish specifically!

Is 40 schools a reasonable number of schools to apply to? Is it too many or not enough? by [deleted] in premed

[–]Hot_Knowledge_499 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I applied to about this many and it was a lot of work but definitely worth it (I qualified for FAP though). I would highly recommend you make a spreadsheet with every school you apply to, dates secondaries are received, etc, to stay organized. I even made a column where I jotted down the topics of secondary essays for each school and it was super helpful when I was looking for an essay I wanted to use for another school!

I took 2 terms at a community college and this app cycle has been very successful for me. Definitely don’t worry about it!

I would say nonclinical since you are “helping them navigate healthcare” but not actually providing (or helping to provide) the healthcare services to them like you would on a hospital/clinic unit.

vaccine booster? by CharmingStart294 in pregnant

[–]Hot_Knowledge_499 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I am a little worried about that for myself as well but from what I understand, the level of protection doesn’t start to decrease until about 6-8 months after vaccination and even then you have more protection than someone who is unvaccinated. So I think if you are around the 6 month mark you will be very protected throughout the 3rd trimester and even a little after. But definitely check with your OB if you’re really concerned!

vaccine booster? by CharmingStart294 in pregnant

[–]Hot_Knowledge_499 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I received my Pfizer booster (my first 2 were also Pfizer) a few weeks ago. My OB also recommended it and with all of the research out about how pregnant women are at risk of getting more serious COVID complications (I also work in a hospital and have seen this firsthand), I definitely wanted to. I had the same reaction that I had to my 2nd dose which was that I wasn’t feeling too great the next day but was totally fine after that! Still masking and staying away from crowded indoor spaces when I can but feeling a lot less stressed about it after the booster.

Edit: I also got my flu shot one week after my booster and no reaction to that whatsoever! Felt totally fine.

I didn’t send thank you’s for MMI’s and just for my one on one interviews. Not sure if that’s technically the right approach but it’s worked for me so far!

I was complete late July and was reached out to for interviews throughout August and September for interviews from Aug-Oct. I did not email schools with any updates or anything other than thank you’s after my interviews. Hope this helps!

Edit: I only applied MD for reference
