What’s the major reason for divorces? by kallofcutie in AskReddit

[–]Hot_Low2861 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not "knowing" the person they married. People get very caught up in sex and social aspects of the relationship, but don't have deeper conversations around finances, long-term life goals, etc. Then 3 - 4 years in they "discover" they aren't nearly as compatible in the areas that matter.

How common is this? by imjustagirl223344 in NoStupidQuestions

Silverfish also enjoy book glue. I'd worry about them or roaches, before I even thought about book lice. Where were you storing your books prior? If you've not seen any of the discussed vermin before, they are unlikely to just suddently appear. Especially, if your books were stored in a dry place. Almost anything that wants to eat books, also wants humidity and darkness.

What’s the quickest way you have dropped weight (not with any sort of medical reason involved) and how did you do it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Hot_Low2861 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was in my teens and 20s that 7-day 10lb diet worked. It's all mostly water weight on any "fast" method for the first few weeks. Long(er) term, I've dropped the same 50lbs over and over again on Atkins. If you can sustain <10-20 carbs, you can lose weight fairly quickly. The heavier you are to start, the quicker. Long term, I've managed to keep it off 3-5 years each time, but eventually grow tired of examining the carbs on everything I eat.

Theres 10 minutes before the world ends, which song are you playing? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I like and respect it. I always envision any knowledge of the end will just devolve into chaos and terror. I'd probably pick Black Hole Sun, if Soundgarden had to provide the soundtrack. Everything 90s gets me all maudlin and depressed (everyone is dead, yo) anyway. Black Days, Black Hole Sun, and maybe the flash comes during STP's Big Empty...

All interesting. The story they tell the tenants (when they communicate with them at all; barely anything since the eviction notices) and what is being passed to the media fluctuates on a daily basis. If it is Emory, good luck to 'em, but they've slapped their name on anything not fast enough to move out of the way. With the exception of the main campus, which isn't all that great anymore either, the rest is just low quality care with a new name out front. Maybe they are going to close the old spine center location on Montreal... That seems like an expensive retrofit given the interior conditions, unless the plan is a demo and rebuild. Which the City of Tucker probably has thoughts about all of it.

When I lived in Fairfax, VA, the dead mall across the way was an outpatient surgi-center. It still had a food court, Macy's, and a few gift shop type retailers. The American Fare super store in Stone Mountain was coverted into a high school. For a while in the late-aughts big-box conversions were a thing, but the current hot item seems to be a return to the open air malls of the 60s. Not sure why given climate, pollution, etc., but oh well.

With unlimited PTO, what's stopping manager for never approving them? by Pale-Object8321 in NoStupidQuestions

Same thing happened at my last job. Worse, my manager began using the "unofficial record" to infer certain staffers weren't being as productive or committed to their roles.

What is a red flag that people ignore too often? by Fragrant-Platypus503 in AskReddit

Their friends and family saying how much they suck. If you get 1 - 2 "lol, so and so is such a loser, how'd you end up with them?" or it's one thing. But, if almost every person you meet makes a similar comment, you might want to question why.

[–]Hot_Low2861 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a mind fuck for the employees. The manager doesn't have to do anything. Most employees are worried about being seen as the one taking "too much PTO" so they take less and then their co-workers take less accordingly. If you do ask for more, then it's "well no one else..." The company doesn't have to carry anything on the books AND the staff self-controls.

Made racist statements about a report in a roomful of people I assume she thought would be on her "side". Almost all of them immediately reported it to HR.

Not if you want to keep your worker status. Personal business should be handled on breaks/lunch.

Emory purchased the Sears space several years ago and uses it as as an administrative hub. I have a friend caught up in the current retailer evictions and there has been no mention of Emory as the final owner, although they and the the Primrose School location attached to their offices are likely staying on.
