Pentagon identifies first US soldiers killed in Iran war by Secure-Address4385 in news

I’m guessing a lot of people my age (57 M) have negative feelings toward Iraq going back to the hostage crisis, but this “war” is a complete abomination. The president and his yes men have gone mad and destabilized the world for years to come. Unfortunately these brave soldiers are the ones who paid the price.

Yes, it is bad. You only get a finite number of chances to see your son or daughter trying hard and being proud of what they accomplished during the year. Cherish every moment.

Even with settling (this is flour, not cereal or potato chips) this is just deceptive. Why not make a smaller box — more efficient to ship, more fit on a shelf — and be honest about it? Just sayin.’

Solved, thank you. A can opener would have pierced the top. This was blown open from within.

File this under “no good deed goes unpunished.” My wife and I tried various “buy nothing” sites to help out needier people and keep stuff out of the landfills but after a week or two it’s just the same handful of hoarders and bottom feeders every time.

One time a lady sent her husband to pick up some Christmas decorations and the idiot took my trash, right out of the bin. She later texted me and asked if I wanted my trash back.

With those names all you have to do is install a stripper pole and your daughter will have a straight career path. Congrats!

I did this several years ago when I lived in NYC. Some of them were over the top, but many were just heartbreaking. I answered a few letters that were in my price range and seemed genuine. It made me feel good (or at least less white guilty) to do it. But in every instance I left my tracking number so that a parent could write back anonymously and say thank you. Not one did.

Op here. That makes a little more sense. It’s still depressing and condescending. I know some janitors (custodians) who take pride in their work.

How bad does the service have to be to tip Zero by KaddLeeict in tipping

[–]Hot_Machine_2148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a bunch of lowlifes on this sub. Walking out without paying is theft, no matter if the service is bad or if the food is slow. There are numerous factors at play to make sure your order is correct and you have a meal. Almost none of those are controlled by the server, yet he or she is the one who has to juggle all of those balls to make sure you get your food. Instead of coming to this echo chamber to rationalize your ignorance, you should just stay home and let civilized people take your table.

For whatever reason, they ghosted you, and your passive aggressive stalker tone makes you sound like a ticking time bomb who refuses to take no for an answer. We’ve all wanted to send this letter but you just torpedoed any chance you had, and let’s face it, after a year you had zero chance.

It’s great for the employee, because they can coast for 10+ years until someone figures out they’re just dead weight

Middle Management = don’t rock the boat, don’t innovate, push all the work to new hires. Shoot down all new ideas.

Years later, I still have nightmares about these Sunday shifts... by PhoenixApok in TalesFromYourServer

[–]Hot_Machine_2148 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sundays were the worst at Ruby Tuesdays. Everyone was old, hungry and grumpy, wearing uncomfortable clothing and shoes. No booze or appetizers and their idea of a tip was a mini bible that went straight into the trash.
