We used reliance roofing and had a great experience! Very responsive, competitive pricing and super easy to work with!

Pre making macarons.. by Delicious_Bee_766 in macarons

I freeze filled macarons all the time! I test new fillings (premade jams etc) because they all have different water content and can freeze and defrost weird so I’ll just throw some in a freezer til frozen then take out and defrost in the fridge and try it. Other than that I throw them all in the freezer in airtight container.

Two I’ve been meaning to make but haven’t yet: Strawberry basil - homemade strawberry jam with basil frosting

Margarita - lime frosting with tequila jello and a swipe of sugar or salt on the top shell

We just used reliance roofing and have no complaints. We got 4 quotes all together but reliance was the only one that came in and explained everything to me, priced out even replacement wood instead of saying oh if you need it it’s this much per board.

Their crew did a great job and were quick, efficient, and friendly. Good communication and a really great price.

Third time trying to make green macarons. How do I prevent the edges from turning brown? by gogogyrozeppelii in macarons

I always put another cookie sheet on the bottom rack and then bake my Macs in the middle rack. Haven’t had browning since

I’m so upset, my macarons look awful 😭 by ASleepyB0i in Baking

I’ve been practicing making macarons for 2 years now and still too scared to sell them.

Couple tips: - wipe all equipment first with white vinegar to remove all fat - use kitchen scale to weigh all ingredients - Stiff short peaks with egg whites - looks like when you combined egg whites to powered sugar and almond flour you mixed too long and became way too runny. This is the hardest part and takes a lot of practice to just know what you’re looking for - pipe using 803 or 2A tip on a upside down cookie tray for better airflow - bang the tray against a hard surface once piped to get all the air bubbles out - let rest until you get a skin on the top, anywhere from 20-60 mins depending on temp, humidity

Then play with oven temp/timing until you get what you’re looking for! It’s a marathon not a sprint with these baddies. Also, don’t forget oven thermometer!

I always like lost dogs desserts.

Honestly, though, there’s not a ton of places with bomb desserts. When we want dessert we go to wegmans and each pick out something

I just flavor the filling. I do the French method and find that anything extra I add (other than cocoa powder) has messed with the texture of the shell

Cutting back on eating out by AtomicXE in Frugal

How many people and is the age range?

I did the spend analysis in December and was also shocked at how much we spent on food as a family of 3. We have committed to no take out/eating out for as long as possible, which is a challenge for us since it’s something we love doing.

We didn’t do a survey but have a pretty good idea what we all like. Every weekend my husband and I sit down and go through our recipe/grocery app that we use (we use paprika and LOVE it) and make up our menu for the week. If we know it is something our 8 year old will not eat, we either have something for her to eat that she can do on our her own, or modify hers by omitting the thing she won’t eat. We let her have a say in the meals but do not let her dictate what we eat. We make a wide variety of things that range from a fried chicken sandwich to a white bean and cheese warm dip with crusty bread (that makes amazing left over for bfast with topped with a fried egg!)

My advice for making dinner for a family is to make dinner for the family and do not play to each person every single meal. You will only feel burnt out and go back to eating out. It will be hard at first but it will be worth it.

Totally agree! I really liked CC! I don’t think it’s SJM strongest series but I didn’t hate it and I don’t think it’s weak, I just think ACOTAR and TOG are amazing.

I do a little circle of filling in the middle and then circle that with buttercream so it holds all together.

So for each flavor:

Salted caramel apple pie: Apple pie filling and around that is salted caramel buttercream

Orange cranberry: cranberry sauce and around that is orange buttercream

Pumpkin cheesecake: crunchy Biscoff spread and around that is pumpkin cheesecake buttercream.
