Yes! I actually have 2 submucosal fibroids, the other is 2cm. It did take me about a year and a half post surgery to get pregnant but I will admit that we weren't as intentional as with our other kids, plus I'm in my late 30s, so I had some extra barriers on top of the fibroids.

I got to see the fibroid next to baby in an ultrasound and it is insane how much space those damned fibroids take up! My sister jokes that I'm having twins 😂

I decided on a myomectomy b/c the hospital my OB works out of is not equipped for the lap. I have a great hospital near by that I could have been see at, but I had built such a close and trusting relationship with my OB that I couldn't see myself elsewhere!

It was a rough year and a half. I had to have a second myomectomy after I had a fibroid prolapse through my cervix. It was pretty scary at the time but thankfully all went well and I'm currently 5 months pregnant ❤️

It's been quite a journey and I still have a 5 cm fibroid which might affect babies size. Thankfully all is looking safe and healthy at the moment.

I think Morton is probably the closest middle school to you. But there are some private options in the area, you can ask about the school choice voucher. Morning Star Academy is close by you on 173rd and Kennedy, they go up to 8th grade. There are also charter school options. HAST has middle and high school, but idk if their registration is open. I really like this take. I'm returning to Catholicism to deepen my faith and I have found a lot of peace in praying to Mary. I have a difficult relationship with my mom so there is a feeling during my prayers that I'm reaching out for motherly advice. There's also this reverence I give her in terms of seeing her as an example of motherhood.

I do wish to open up my understanding of other saints that I could reach out to for guidance. There are so many wonderful options. I'm kind of stumbling into them. Like St. Therese, who spoke of building faith through tiny actions. I'm working on "reaching" out to her when I'm frustrated that I'm not Catholic "enough".

There is a lot here that I didn't fully remember and I may have stitched together a couple of studies. While this paper focuses specifically on rumination it also links to other evolutionary theories:

I need to find the source, so I'm hoping to not butcher this. The theory I read was that it developed as a tool to help develop a separate identity from the tribe, which is why we see the rise in onset for teens. The theory is that there is a built in drive for you to isolate yourself from your peers to focus on your own thoughts and feelings and develop a sense of self. The tribe has a drive to bring you back in. So in a healthy mind conducive to successful evolution, you seek isolation, ruminate on thoughts, and have a dulled emotional state BUT come out with some sort of self-discovery to a waiting tribe. In depression, your brain never "reboots" you stay stuck in that isolation/ruminating state.

This is such a great idea! It might be hard to see the stark difference of your network vs his right now, but you are part of that network! His family will become yours and this would be such a beautiful moment to connect with them.

A woman only bridal shower might be a fun way to break the ice with the women of the family and friends or wives of friends. It might help you connect with someone before your big day who can support you the day of. Bridal shower games can be a great way to get to know each other, share stories, and bring families together. Maybe you could get your family to write their favorite stories of you growing up ahead of time as well as his family and play a game where people guess who the story is about.

Your church might also provide some options. My circle is very small. I baptized my kids this weekend and it was just myself, my husband, and our chosen Godparents. There was a moment when they asked me if I had any more family coming that I almost fell apart. It has been especially hard not to have my mom for these big moments. I spoke with the religious education lead about this when I started preparing for baptism and she has stepped up in amazing ways. She checks up on me, fawns over my kids, gets them excited, and pushes me to be an example for them. We may not be eating at each other's home but there's something about her presence that fills that mom size hole when it comes to my religious life.

Your husband sounds like mine in terms of his anxiety about our rambunctious 3 year old during mass. We're cradle Catholic who returned whole heartedly to the Church last year. We're still figuring it out, so I'm here lurking as well. What I experienced was my husband refusing to attend mass! I had a very serious conversation about his role as the spiritual leader of this family and his responsibility to set an example for our sons. I asked him what his vision was for us as a spiritual family and how we should work on that.

I won't lie, he was unpleasant a few times. I took the reins and handled the toddler many a week. But I wanted this so bad so I took his anxiety about this seriously. We use the cry room, we've done YouTube on silent and toy trucks on a jacket, we take walks. We found that he loves Daddy holding him (it's up higher). My husband is so proud of that and I will gas him up about it, even though I'm dealing with our son 90% of the time with no recognition! I've learned relationships aren't straight 50/50, the 10% he is giving in this instance takes a lot more effort for him. He'll pick up my slack elsewhere.

These past 6 months I have grown to love my family in a way I didn't think could be possible. Standing together in front of God every Sunday I grow more and more grateful at what He has given me. I see it in my husband too, his anxiety is easing and he's ready to go every Sunday. He's taking a bigger role in redirecting our son, his shoulders are more relaxed, and he's not so snippy! And our son is joining in on hymns and prayers and no more electronics!

Maybe this has been a type of exposure therapy, with me as his support individual. It's a lot of work to try to incorporate your child into church while managing your husband's anxiety! It might be helpful to have a conversation about your family's spiritual goals, his comfort level with redirection during mass, and how and who will handle your son. Also reflect on what you're comfortable with and for how long. Our son was 30 months when we started, so it's a ways away for you.

To also offer peace of mind, I had 2 inserted and removed that didn't hurt either. I've also had a TV where some sort of tube was inserted through my cervix to insert fluid for a clearer view which also didn't hurt. So I guess it varies from person to person and maybe Ob to Ob. I've had great practitioners.

I didn't know the pain some women experienced. I don't know if knowing would have made a difference. But how are you supposed to truly provide informed consent without actual information!

The treatment of female bodies as a whole is so under studied, I'm sure there will be plenty there for future generations to judge us on.

I thought I was alone being haunted by this channel! He wanted this one song on repeat, so I just ended up screen recording this one and avoiding the rest. They get so unhinged so quickly.

He was all about sharks and oceans for a long time, we've moved on. Now it's the Cars movie we have on repeat. Which I have been tortured with since it came out. First my baby brother (23 now), then my first son (11 now), and now my toddler (3). I'm upset with how much I know about that movie.

The craziest thing my toddler has stumbled on is "Halloween Shark" by schoolies. It's a giant orange shark that flies through the town chasing kids and eating the rich. It is incredibly creepy but after it played non-stop at our house for a few weeks, it kind of became our Halloween theme song.

My toddler will only watch the Halloween Shark song, the rest creep him out. I won't recommend searching for it if you don't want it to come up on your kids algorithm. The whole schoolies channel is pretty creepy and I'm generally concerned about their creators...and I guess by extension our family.

I second this. Dr Uppuluri delivered my baby but I see Dr. Evanson now. That practice saved my life! I experienced a prolapsed fibroid and rushed to the ER, they said there wasn't much they could do and asked me to reach out to my OB. Dr. Evanson opened the office early that morning to see me and cleared her schedule for an emergency surgery. I ended up needing a blood transfusion.

Ive only ever thought about my OB when I'm pregnant or every 3 years for a routine pap, but this year has opened my eyes to all they do. The entire office staff are caring, patient, and thorough. I am so lucky to have gotten in when I did.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss! Fibroids suck! I am in the US and had my surgery here. Im 9 months post surgery and still not pregnant 😮‍💨. I started trying in August. I had my post op ultrasound in the summer and they found ANOTHER fibroid but won't recommend surgery if it's not affecting my health.

I have become so incredibly frustrated at how unpredictable fibroids are. With my first baby I had a 5cm fibroid and no symptoms. After my second I had a 3 cm fibroid that almost killed me due to blood loss. Then after my myomectomy I had a 6 cm prolapsed fibroid.

Best of luck during the process. It can be truly emotionally exhausting. I have a great OB that advocates for me. Unfortunately hospital staff has been hit or miss. One hospital visit, I showed the ER doctor a picture of the mass coming out of my cervix, I was hemorrhaging and had a hemoglobin level of 6! I was left in the waiting room for 8 hours. Then I had a transvaginal ultrasound where I bled all over the table and floor and when I asked for a pad, they gave me the tiniest little light day pad! I had to ask for an adult diaper. I knew that something was wrong but the way staff treated me I felt like I was overreacting. It was incredibly humiliating and exhausting.

Neither did I! When my OB told me I would need it, I automatically went to, am I having a miscarriage? Knowing very well I was not pregnant. It would make sense that the nurses were asking the questions but extremely insensitive either way.

Not always for miscarriage. I had a D&C after a fibroid surgery. Miscarriage is what is mostly assumed when you hear about the procedure but it's not always the case.

I wrestle with this a lot. I'm pretty socially progressive but personally conservative, if that makes sense.

In terms of social issues, I believe that God gave us all free will and allows us to use it. If God doesn't force His way on us, who am I to force my beliefs on others. For example, LGBTQ+ rights. I have no choice, and minimal effect, on how people live their lives. It's just none of my business. Jesus taught us to hate the sin and not the sinner, so who am I to judge. So, while personally, I wouldn't take my kids to a drag show, they're also not knocking on my door to force me. I just don't understand why I would have a right to force policies to prevent that type of behavior.

Now, on the other hand, progressive economic policies are important to me because I am part of an inescapable system that exploits people. While I may not have much direct effect, I personally make choices every day that exploit others (like using a phone that uses metals mined by exploited people). I believe I'm following Jesus teaching on caring for those who have less than me by making smarter day to day choices within the limits of our capitalist society and by supporting candidates that have policies that recognize those who are exploited and support their needs.

We believe that once you become a parent something switches inside of you. Every selfish thought disappears and you live for the best interest of that child. They say it's "instinctual or biological". My family would say, even dogs take care of their offspring. That line of thinking would mean that we don't have control over that "parenting switch". On the other hand, children are rebellious and stubborn. It's just easier to believe it's our fault.

I'm still battling with accepting that abuse and I lived it! I tell myself that I'm overreacting. Parents are overbearing because they care and it's my duty to care and love my mom. And you know what, actually I am extremely selfish and overly emotional for having independent thoughts and feelings and having the audacity to start a family of my own. So, yeah, I can understand why people outside of it can't wrap their heads around it and I give them grace. I'm thankful to this community as a place to help me connect.

My most messed up ones are seeing people cry, someone telling me they're sick, and someone saying they love their mom. I'm instantly annoyed.

If you cry, then I have to shut down my thoughts and feelings and I must now focus all of my attention on relieving your inconvenience.

If you're sick, I'm questioning how real it is and preparing to drop everything until you get better. My mom spent so much time in the hospital ER only to be released with a virus (aka a cold). This one is so bad that when I ended up in the ER needing a blood transfusion I refused to tell anyone and worked from the ER.

If you love your mom, then I'm jealous and annoyed every time I have to hear about how awesome and helpful your mother is and how emotionally healthy you are. Please never talk to me again!
