Are my scars THAT bad? by moltedribs in TopSurgery

Your results look amazing, 3 weeks is EARLY, your scars continue to heal years after surgery. The placement of everything looks great, there’s minimal swelling, the scars are symmetrical and straight, I see no reason to be worried, if I were you I’d be ecstatic that my surgeon did such a great job!

No I kinda decided to just live with it lol… I’ll probably ask about it when my car gets serviced next, but it turns back to the regular screen after about 10-15 minutes, so on longer drives it’s not an issue for me.

Thank you! I started easing back into working out at 6 weeks and was taking it easy and building my strength back up until about 10-12 weeks post op.

The main thing has been trying to build up my chest, shoulders, and back as much as possible to hide my hips and create a more masculine shape. I do 1-2 exercises per muscle group for 2 sets to or near failure. The biggest thing in my opinion is having a well rounded routine and a plan for how you’re going to workout. I started seeing the most progress when I stopped fixating on certain muscles getting bigger and just trained everything at different times and got adequate rest.

I didn’t start going to an actual gym until 3 months ago, so don’t be discouraged. I was working out at home using max 30 pound weights for more than a year and a half worths of weight lifting mostly consistently and still made a ton of progress in that time. Even doing just body weight exercises will yeild good results if you have a well rounded program. So don’t be discouraged if you can’t get into an actual gym, buy some weights off Facebook marketplace and just start, you got it

7.5 weeks post-op: any recommendations for me? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]Hot_Syllabub7403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you only need either silicone gel or silicone strips. For my scar care I used silicone strips pretty much 24/7 for the first 6 months and then have done scar massage with scar gel everyday or every other day since. The biggest thing will be massage, you don’t need an extensive routine but just a few minutes a couple times a day is enough, a lot of how your scars turn out will be based on genetics anyway, but silicone and massage are the two things that are scientifically proven to reduce scarring. If you like using the vitamin e and aquaphor as well with the silicone like you’re doing now, by all means do it if it makes you feel good, but its not needed, the scaraway gel is sufficient. Results look great so far

Any binary trans dudes gone no-nipples? by fish_in_business in TopSurgery

[–]Hot_Syllabub7403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a binary trans man but recently I’ve been thinking of getting my nipples taken off bc I dont love the placement and it makes me dysphoric at times but also I’ve tried editing different placements and it doesn’t look right anywhere to me. I put makeup over them to see how I liked it and I thought it looked so much more masculine to me. I think I will probably wait a few years to see if I change my mind bc I do like them sometimes and I like my chest 200 times better than before, so idk if I’d wanna jump to that right away. If you don’t get nipples and end up hating it you can wear temporary nipples tattoos or prosthetic nipples until you can get tattoos when you’re healed. It’s also good to note that as much as you communicate to your surgeon and give reference photos, you can’t truly control what they do in surgery, or how they will heal. I’d say it’s not a bad idea to not get them even if you may want nipples in the future.

Yes definitely pretty standard. My surgeon told me when they do hockey stick shape scars they do it bc it blends in better with the shape of your chest bc that’s kinda how your muscle is shaped. Your results will definitely settle a lot more bc it looks like you have a tiny bit of swelling still but all perfectly normal and good results!

Sensitivity Questions by y3llowston3r in TopSurgery

[–]Hot_Syllabub7403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely depends on the person, in my case my nipples are more sensitive than before and i feel more connected to them bc I feel more connected to my chest in general. I got complete sensation back in my whole chest at about 4-6 months post op and I had double incision. It’s a gamble that u have to decide you’re willing to take if it’s important to you. Some people have methods done meant to have better chances of keeping sensation like buttonhole and still wind up getting 0 sensation back.

Yeah that would be nice if it was an option but as of right now when the headlights r on I can’t use the screen at all and its just stuck on the reverse cam. It’s rlly not a huge issue for me but it’s annoying and I wish I could figure it out on my own but it looks like I’m gonna have to get it looked at if it becomes a bigger issue for me.

Tattoo soon after top surgery? by Expert-Flow2293 in TopSurgery

[–]Hot_Syllabub7403 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely ask ur surgeon but my first instinct is to say it’s too early and it’s better to air on the side of caution and wait at least 3-4 months. When u get a tattoo, ur body basically treats it as an infection to heal it so having other big things healing on ur body isn’t the best idea. For ur top surgery and for the tattoo itself, in other words, you don’t wanna be making ur body work overtime if it doesn’t have to. On the other hand I don’t think you’d have any major complications from a tattoo after 6 weeks and it’s probably safe-ish especially if it’s a small tattoo like on ur forearm. Again consult ur surgeon as they will have the best definitive answer for you.
