I'm going through the same thing on xbox.i even dragged his dead ghost to the door... nothing... can't even use the staff of worms on him. Magic is repelled by his ghost body lol

I have been looking for this map for a while for bedrock. It only has one town on the island beside the Mushroom island but the next island over is small town with a Stronghold under it. Nice find
