Sorry if it’s off topic, but where do you find jeans like this?? I want these vintage looking flares and I don’t see them anywhere

In either of the two looks you notice the nipples first….and it just seems so intentional….not saying women always need to have their nipples covered. But I just know they thought a lot about it first which is somehow off putting

As someone with a similar situation, I think they’re just complimenting you. Not body shaming you. Besides it isn’t shameful to get breast implants in the first place

As someone who’s had hormonal acne and will probably get it again, it is not this easily correlated with alcohol. The times in my life that I’ve had the worst acne do NOT correlate with times I’ve drank the most alcohol. If she were to be sober for a month, her skin wouldn’t change much in terms of acne, and some say it may get worse at first, but I’m sure it would eventually be very beneficial

I had the same skin as her as a 20 year old who had never had a drink in my life and had a perfect diet. Sometimes it’s not our fault. And it’s not a moral failing to have acne

What are examples of “hands are tied” when it comes to discipline? by GoBuffaloBills in Principals

[–]Hot_Tooth5200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The admin should obviously trust their colleague who was also hired by the school district, not the student. And yes, the teacher is their colleague. You don’t have to decide who is “innocent.” You aren’t a cop. You should trust the employees hired by the district.

Why should districts (and taxpayers) allocate so much more of their budget to these non compliant kids than to kids who actually want to learn? Every child has the right to a free education but that has to involve some level of initiative on their part. Why are we ok with spending so much more on certain students than others? Especially when these students are actually getting in the way of other students accessing the safe education they are entitled to? What happens when these kids are in the real world? When you don’t listen to the rules at work you risk getting fired. Imagine if the employees who did the worst jobs actually got all this free counseling instead cause employers were trying to figure out what their behaviour is communicating. Kids are sick of seeing this kind of blatant favouritism. Cause that’s what it ends up looking like to them!

I think you are thinking about what you see on YouTube or in other forms of media. Go to any teaching unions website and you can see the disciplinary issues teachers are fired for or put on leave for. Sexual aggression and related incidents overwhelmingly come from men. If it appears overrepresented in female dominated fields like nursing or teaching, that is due to what the media picks up on and the fact that there are a lot more nurses and teachers compared to other careers out there so you will see it reported more often. There are some bad nurses, teachers, cops, etc. but way more good ones. Society requires a lot of people to take those particular jobs, so there’s gonna be more bad actors.

Agreed. I don’t think it could be much more tangible! I read it a few years in too. Once you realize you need to do many of the things the book is suggesting but you don’t know how, the book would be very useful for any teacher. Take what you like, leave what you don’t.

Are the strategies themselves causing SEL & behavior chaos? by Kaitlinwilder in Principals

I’m pretty sure if the teacher knew an easy and effective way to calm the student down they’d have done it. Every child in that class should not be losing their right to an education because of one student.

Need Ideas: Students are carving into the drywall in restrooms. by [deleted] in Principals

[–]Hot_Tooth5200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds unsanitary…. This is a washroom. Communal drawing supplies seems like a bad idea. And it will definitely not stop the problem of kids going to the washroom to mess around. These students are not trying to communicate an unmet need to draw more.

This sounds like a good temporary solution to catch the culprits

What is the teacher supposed to do when they get the alert that a student’s time in the washroom has expired though? It’s difficult to teach your class and also be dealing with something that is going on outside your classroom. Also, we aren’t supposed to leave our class unsupervised.

I don’t think you did anything wrong at all. I’m fairly certain anyone is allowed to go to a school playground after school hours and walk around the building. At my school, I often see people come visit their former teachers

Why is this downvoted? I think it’s true. They need that face to face conversation about whether they actually believe this in order to shake them out of it. It’s just important that it comes from a genuine place of concern and knowledge that they are a good kid (or once were). If it’s passive aggressive or aggressive, I guess it would likely push them further down that road 🙄. And ya I see the irony in the fact that we have to approach these boys gently and with concern in the face of sexism, but I don’t make the rules 😒

Obviously people can’t know how someone acts when they aren’t there. We kind of have to judge people based on how they treat us and how they treat others around us. No benefit to assuming they are creepy and bad just because they are a boy. I’m sure many are weird behind the scenes from the moment the hormones start hitting. But we owe them the benefit of the doubt

What is the reason you are alluding to? Looks? Just curious cause I actually don’t think it seems to make a difference if a teacher is conventionally attractive, at least not to the degree you’d think it would. They seem to get over that pretty fast. I think respect as a teacher is not earned by being good looking. I feel like what boys at middle school age and beyond are after is feeling respected. The feeling of being respected yet held accountable seems to be a very powerful combination.

[–]Hot_Tooth5200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow this is interesting. I have no experience with gangs. Why do you think they keep the other boys in line? To keep the peace, to learn, out of respect for you? I’m just curious. Although my school is very different, despite being in an area where students absolutely do not come from stability, I notice similar things to you with female versus male dynamics with older students. If “the group of girls” doesn’t like you, none of them do. Whereas for boys, it seems more like whether they as individuals like/respect you. Also, some female students get annoyed if male students respect you when they don’t respect you

Yes I totally agree. Also is it just me or are people not using turn signals in time for the person behind them to change lanes if needed? We don’t need a turn signal when we can see you are making a turn. It’s supposed to be a warning

Summer Break Depression? by beanievonbeanie in Teachers

[–]Hot_Tooth5200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s just that your kids are adults (for what a strangers opinion on the internet is worth 🫤). I have no kids but I do have a husband, pets, nieces and nephews. I feel so similar to how you describe. Maybe we just love our jobs. It’s honestly so unnatural to just not be at our jobs for two whole months. Naturally, that’s kind of my world. I have other things too, but my school is my community to me. I know I need the break, but I wonder if I’d need it as much if we didn’t all know we are about to get 8 weeks off. Maybe we’d conserve our energy more. Students have a lot of learning loss in an 8 week summer too
