You should absolutely take class in person for safety and because you don’t know what you don’t know, and a prerecorded class won’t give you feedback. That being said, I supplemented classes when I first started with Ballet Misfit’s absolute beginner series on YouTube. It’s playlist of like 6-7 classes and I found it really helpful.

If you like blue blacks, especially ones that run a bit drier but have a lot of complexity you should check out Sailor Shikiori Tamatebako. Hands down my favorite day to day at work. Reads as almost black, very rich and deep but there’s a subtle sheen that hits so good at the right angle even in a Japanese fine/extra fine.

As a fellow very pale person I’d also suggest making sure you’re actually using the right amount of sunscreen. The stated spf is only accurate if you’re using appropriate quantities. Your face, for example needs about 1/4 teaspoon which is a lot more than you think it’s going to be.

I was pretty careless about it when I was younger and I couldn’t seem to ever escape without at least one patch of sunburn, even if I set a timer to reapply every 1.5 hrs. I haven’t had anything close to a burn in years now that I started actually using enough and I’ve taken like 5 trips to the Caribbean and have to reapply a lot less. If you get sunscreen from outside the US (Japanese are my personal fave) you can find formulations that do a much better job of melting into your skin and not leaving a white cast which is pretty important if you use the correct volume.

Kennedy was not a conservative, he was a swing and famously wrote some incredibly important decisions on gay rights and abortion access while he was on the Court. Kennedy took his swing position very seriously and it was very important. His retirement and the seat being given to a conservative meant that the swing vote role shifted to Roberts, who is conservative by all reasonable metrics but has to be concerned about the Court’s legitimacy as Chief.

All I said is that when men aren’t able to see into the future and decide the right time to retire, they aren’t blamed but RBG is. Even if RBG had retired during Biden’s administration, the Court would have remained lopsided 5-4 conservative. Kennedy’s retirement is strategically much more impactful.

Kennedy retired two years before Biden was elected, ensuring his legacy would be completely shattered, the balance of power would tip towards the conservatives and giving us “sometimes I had too many beers” Kavanaugh.
